Recently purchased a 2006 C6 LS2 and have a question. This is the first Vette I have ever owned so not sure if it's a normal Vette sound or I am just hearing things. Seems though when others are in the car they don't hear the noise and the wife drove it for the first time last night and she said she didn't hear it. I'm hearing though what sounds like a clunking, almost grinding sound and it sounds like it's coming form the passenger rear tire area.
Any ideas what this sound may be or could it be just a normal noise? Thanks in advance for the responses.
If it is occurring when making slow speed turns, the differential fluid probably needs to be replaced. You can do a search on the forum for differential "chatter."
Hey Robert this you?....Think I've seen your car somewhere before...haha. Hope the fluid change works (let me know...good info to have). Car has made that same noise ever since it was new...never any better or worse. Check out the new ride: http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c6-c...-in-stock.html

Yep it's me. Thanks for the great car and man that new of yours in a beauty. We'll have to get together when you take delivery so Stacie and I can check it out in person. I'll let you know how things work out after the fluid change is completed. I'll probably try to get it in sometime this week since I'm on leave.
I just bought a 2005 Coupe and experienced the same noise. The noise is at its worst when making hard turns at low speeds in the parking lot. I took it to a local Chevrolet dealer and their Corvette-certified mechanic (that's a mouthful) told me that a differential fluid change and additive would stop the noise. I thought that was hard to believe....but he was right!! After the fluid change...the noise was gone!
