Default Which Gears Do You Suggest For a Modified LS3

Let me start off with I havent visited this site in about 6 months and during that time i have managed to save tons of money from not logging on to this site. Now for the bad part. I logged on a few days ago and decided I am falling behind and need to get more horsepower to keep up :-).Soo......there goes the money i saved lol.

Now Ill tell you about my car, its an LS3 (Automatic) with intake, headers, tune, cam, 160T, 150 NOS (wet), exhaust, ported TB, Ported ITM and underpulleys. Now Iam trying to decide between Stall Converter and Gears, but after reading a lot of debated threads on this forum I am choosing to go with gears(simple fact that my vette is a daily driver.)

My question is........Which Gears would you guys recommend? Is it even worth the bang for your buck?? Should I look for another form of horsepower(not going into any other method of FI besides the NOS i already have.)

P.s- I want to get power but i dont wanna loose so much top end.

Thanks for any Guidance!!

It depends on what your intend use is.

If it is to maximize your mods for the 1/4 mile, you need to determine what your trap speed is and then figure out which gear will have you near or virtually at the rev limiter as you hit the end stripe.

If you have other mods planned (e.g: H/C or FI), take that new power into account when choosing mods - you don't want to have to swap gears because you made the new gears less useful for your purpose.

I wouldn't worry too much about top speed loss. In my car, I am sure I actually increased my top speed by going from 3.42 to 4.10 - 6th gear became useful and I can pull in 6th instead of loaf around. Obviously - manual transmission.

If I had your car and was looking to improve the 1/4 time, I would do both the gears and the torque converter at the same time because it is a lot of the same labor twice. Also, your car would be a beast.
