I've been thinking of the same thing regarding trans coolers. My intention at this point is to mount it in the opening down by the air dam, this wouldn't block the opening completely and should provide sufficient air flow. Fluidyne makes a cooler that would fit perfectly(I think)(http://www.summitracing.com/parts/FL...6/?image=large) then just run fittings and braided stainless lines and connect to the outgoing line from the radiator, braided lines shouldn't be any more than 3' long each.
just run it in front of the ac condenser, bypass the rad, pull both lines, they have a bevel that high pressure trans lines will slip over tightly and you can clamp behind the bevel, i used a Hayden from pep boys pretty big 12x12 it mounts in the center low and vararam still fits, i have been 24,000 miles with it no problems
For a street driven car up north, I wouldn't bypass the radiator. During cool weather with the trans running cool, maybe too cool, it will warm the trans fluid slightly.

Track-only cars might want a different setup.
but jpee lives in the NE so do i, i know chicago can get real cold my trans warms the same, but with the converter you dont need water temps warming it, or it heating the rad, i keep my trans temps cool and the rad cool, and can cool the trans quicker with it separated

Dennis you say it will fit right on the air conditioner condenser...even with a Vararam (which I have) & I'll get the best cooling if I "Bypass" the radiator!
I know my 96 with a 3600 converter would always run about 180 + or - depending on the weather...
Now my C6 with a stock converter usually runs 210, & with a 3000 I'm sure it will go higher...
I know on the GSP when its locked at 65-70 mph the trans cools down to 190 now...

i think 190 has been my highest on average 140 to 170 and thats running hard with a 3800 and 373 gears turning hard on the tp or 295 on a very hot day, and my water temp was lower
i have the rapid cool part# 679 class A Motorhomes towing up to 10,000lbs got it at pep boys, if i ever remounted it i would put it closer to the passenger side so it wasn't behind the vararam,
