My '05 OEM battery was showing sign of leaking and I had been brushing off some deposits around the cable post connector. So...I got a new battery and had it installed at the dealer (I've had good luck with them so far). During the install, the old post connector/bolt fell apart and could not be salvaged. They said the cables came as a special "Corvette" set and ordered a replacement set. The cable is in, and I'm told it's a 2 to 3 hour install (affixes to the frame, etc.)
As mentioned before, this dealership has been fair and square with me so far, but I'm taking a Ronald Reagan aprroach on this. "Trust, but verify". Can any of you trusted forum members, verify this scenario?
Thanks...

I haven't looked closely at the corvette, but on other cars when this happened, I've always just cut it off crimped on some ring lugs and gotten one of those generic post clamps with the stud and wing nut on top. I know its not the prettiest fix, but its cheap and gets the job done. I'm also lucky enough to have a crimper that will do the big stuff.
nice two dealers told me over 125, and it would take a week it had to come from lancing Michigan, i couldn't wait and didn't like the way they tightened anyway on the brass posts of the lightweight battery, so i took a off pair vise grips held it against a 2x4 12inches long under the hood on the battery drilled a hole in the end right before the crimp, then took a pair of tin snip cut the old end of circular around the hole so it looks like an eye end, then i bought a lightweight Toyota replacement end at walmart 3 bucks, it nut and bolts tight around the post
I wouldn't mess around with anything other than new cables. The installation is a piece of cake. The positive cable runs straight down from the battery and connects too the starter solenoid as shown. The negative attachés to the frame. It's very close also. I see no more than a hour.
Good news.....I called the dealer today asking for clarification as to cost for cable and labor. He said, "Sir, my tech told me they screwed up the install and broke the cable....we are covering at no expense to you". You could have knocked me over with a feather....So for all you Dealer bashers, I seem to have found a good one in Omaha. I'm not sure I can give out their names, but if you pm me, I'll be happy to identify them.
