Default My new auto shift **** C6

Just finished install of C6 auto shift ****. I used C5 A4 auto **** adapter from Corvette Parts Unlimited $50.00 and purchased the shift **** from sinisteragentmulder on Ebay. I won it for $49.00.

Default How I did it

This is the adapter I used. I did cut off 1/2 of an inch off the top to shorten it and re threaded the remaining shaft to 16MMx150 tread that **** came with. The **** came with an adapter but that would have made it another 1/2 taller. So shortening the shaft made it lower and no **** adapter was needed. I already had the right tap and die (Amazing )

This is the shift **** I removed, it is from my 2005 auto C6. It had a c clip at the front of shift **** that I removed with a small flat head screw driver.

I had to stretch the stock shift boot using pliers and screw nut setup I put together. I heated it off an on for about an hour and it stretched enough to go over shift **** adapter.

I then put in the spring in and sprayed in some lube to make it move easier.

Next was the adapter. Tighten front and rear set screws. I then pulled the boot up and it was nice and tight. I did not see a need to use the cap it came with. Spin on the **** . I did drill the side of **** and put in set screw to keep it from spinning in the future.

How does it work since you have to push the button on the factory one down to get it to move through the gears?

Nice detailed write up and while that **** probably isn't for everyone (especially most Corvette owners LOL) I do think it's pretty cool.

Default Adapter will not fit all C6s

Well I bought the adapter- several sites sell it for a C6- What they don't say or know is it won't fit all C6s- 2005 A4 shifter is different from 2006 to present A6 shifter-Ask me how I know

After doing tons of research I deceided the easiest way for me to have a button in my shifter would to buy a adapter and a man ****.This is for line lock which take a momentry button

After contacting several vendors I made a deal with one of the forum vendors (contact me if you want their name ). I asked if this would work on my 2007 C6. He told me he would check into it. After about a week I didn't hear back from him and I called him. I mentioned my call (There was no- Oh Im sorry- Is there really any customer service anymore?) He then hesitated but told me oh yeah that should work no problem. I ordered it and then the fun began.

1) The Man **** will only fit a C6 stick shifter- I can grind off part of the base and epoxy it on but the button isnt momentry and the **** sticks about 3 inches higher than stock. Looks like a shifter Big Daddy Roth would have used.
2) The adapter will not fit either my 07 & 08 auto shifters- I emailed the mfr and they emailed me back-" Oh it should fit but if it doesn't send it back with the reciept and we will reimburse you".There wasn't any" Oh we will check this out and get back to you." They did tell me that it will not fit on 2009 & later. The instructions and part number that were sent to me are for a C5 and there is no part number for a C6 as far as my research has found
3) By chance I had bought another A6 shifter that had been converted using a 2005 A4 lever. Gee it works but again I don't need a Big Daddy Roth shifter in my Corvette and since the Man **** is momentry I'm not going that route.
4) Back to the orginal shifter **** and looking for a decent momentry switch that will fit on the side of the factory auto ****

Yeah. I hear ya! I'm still waiting for a solution. There appears to be no adapter for C6 (2006+) A6!

I like!! Great write up. I have that adapter from my C5 days and didn't use it. So it won't work on my '06 A6?
