My friend purchased a meter that can be attached to the DIC under the dash.He installed it on his Vette andthe meter read the engine and accessories are in good working order. He hooked it up to my car and we entered the vin number. The meter read ZO6.My car is a 06 coupe,LS2.We installed it on a third car and the meter read everything was in good working order. Is there any way I can visually tell the difference between a LS2 engine and a ZO6 engine? My curiosity has been aroused. Thank you. Rod

The port under the steering wheel is an OBD2 port not the DIC. Something wasn't calibrated correctly.
Post your VIN, someone here will tell you whether it's a Z06 or a C6. the VIN is on the body, for the body style, not on the motor. Did you buy the car new or is there a chance somebody swapped motors before you bought the car?
If by some chance you have a Z06 engine it would be pretty obvious. The fuel rail covers would say LS7 instead of LS2, the exhaust manifolds on a Z06 are Stainless shorties, on an LS2 they are cast iron.
I'm sure you would notice a difference between a 400HP LS2 and a 505HP Z06.
There won't be an oil filler cap on the passenger side fuel rail cover on a ZO6. As noted above, if you have a ZO6 you would feel the difference in HP.
Apparently the meter he purchased is junk. From the descriptions you gentlemen gave me,its definitely not a ZO6 engine.Yes,I bought it new. Thank you the assistance. Rodchevy
