Your best bet is to switch to the Z06 differential. You will have to change the trans mainshaft, but you may have broken yours anyway so it will have to be torn down to replace one way or the other. If you go that route it's a good idea to update the trans with HD synchronizer keys and bronze fork pads.

We advise all of our 05 customers to do this with their diff.

We had a detailed article written about this in Vette Magazine. It is a fairly easy upgrade. Here is a list of parts you need, not knowing what gear ratio you are looking for I just put the stock 3.42 in there.
