Bought a used 2006 Z06 about 6 months ago. It had a Vararam intake and a Revextreme catch can installed when I got it. The catch can had a PVC valve bonded to it which rattled like crazy at medium revs. Got an Elite catch can to replace. The previous owner also installed a breather filter on the hose coming from the oil tank (I assume this hose went to the intake in front of the throttle body). The filter misted oil under the hood. I took the filter off the hose and re-routed it to the fitting on the intake tube. Got a CEL (PO172 and PO175) and I found engine oil on the MAF sensor. Is there supposed to be a PCV valve int the hose to the intake tube?
I cleaned the sensor, re-intalled the filter on the end of the hose, and plugged the fitting in the intake. After a day, the CEL came back on.
Kind of confused.
By the way, the homemade vent filter has a pcv valve in it.
Any ideas? I don't have any of the stock stuff.
Also, could the oil on the MAF sensor have 'killed' it?
