Went to GIR Tuesday night to make a couple passes....
Thought after the small changes I made over the weekend I would be turning in a personal best but when I tried to clean off the tires I was getting wheel hop immediately??
ruined all my confidence with launching the car, put up my two worst times instead due to lousy 60' times (that I don't care to mention)
I hope someone has experienced this and has been able to help the situation without having to do any major surgery to the rear suspension.
Sounds like you need to get a little more water put down for you and get the tires a little more wet. Then do a nice burnout to get the tires sticky. I make sure that my wheels turn over at least 2 or 3 times in the water then do a nice smokey burnout and Ive never had wheel hop.
Even with street tires, back into the beginning portions of the water box. It will be damp there with no VHT to ruin your day trying to get your burnout started. Rev to whatever rpm you want and quickly release/dump the clutch. Apply the brakes with your left foot and brakestand until your heart is content. W/ street tires, I turn them over just enough to get a hint of smoke(couple of seconds) and thats it. A little heat helps street tires hook, but too much heat can turn them into ice.

a quick scan of your profile indicates you have the same year tranny and 3lt package i have.
after all theposts here on the forum i thought it was common knowledge you need DRadials or at least non runflats, upgraded shocks at least bilsteins HD to help start eliminate wheel hop
I don't recall reading any posts on wheel hop for this car (C6)
I tried to do a burn-out the same way I would do them with my last vette (02 Z06) as I never experienced any hop issues with that car.
Drive through the water, stop just past the box to avoid throwing water all up in my wheel-wells and do as 1.8t mentioned, clean them off for a few seconds then when they were ready they would push me forward.
I don't have GY RF's I have Nitto Invo's which are pretty sticky for my power level.
Attempted different air pressure but did not do anything for my situation.
The 4 year lay-off from the track feels like I am starting all over!

If I dont spin my tires over at least one to two turns in the water box i will have slight wheel hop as well..next time you go stop with your rear tires in the water box and give them a slight turnover..then pull up a few ft. past the water and light em up..i like to roll out of my burnout..Hope that helps bud..

Thanks, sounds like if I combine c6 batmobile, 1.8t & yourself into 1 burnout I should see an improvement!
I appreciate you guys taking the time to offer up some tips and I will try them next time out!

Check your trans mounts, mine felt like it was getting wheelhop which I hadn't seen since getting Koni's and Drag Radials, I found the left mount was almost torn in two. A damaged trans mount can manifest itself as what feels like Wheelhop when it's really Powertrain shake...

Car even hops on the street sometimes, I am deff going to look into this and the Koni's. Prob do both as I want to be able to use all that I have HP wise (what little that is)
I know you have an m6 but you just need to do a proper burnout to eliminate your wheel hop. I know a lot of guys spend thousands of dollars on shocks and mounts etc but unless your way over your stock power level this really isnt needed. A set of D/R's will benefit you greatly but like I said you just need to do a proper burnout/prep. There are plenty of people here all years C6 that launch their cars with the factory shocks/tranny mounts and do not have wheel hop on a consistent basis.

Same exact problem on a C6Z06.
Was at ATCO recently and couldn't really push it.
I was getting wheel hop during the burnout and 1-2 shift. I was on stock GY EMT's.
I just checked my motor mounts and this is what I found; who knows how long they've been that way. I guess I'll be ordering Pfadt's motor mounts as well... It's only money...
Here's the broken Trans mount that I talked about earlier in the thread..
It's no wonder it felt like a bad wheelhop... I'm lucky I didn't break more than the mounts!
Wow Isaiah thats bad.
FYI I have 12k mile motor and tranny mounts for sale from when I went to Pfadts all around
Thanks but I already bought the Pfadt Trans mounts and plan on buying the motor mounts on Monday... How do you like the Pfadt mounts, did you notice any improvement in response and how bad is the increased vibration?

Prior to the pfadt install I went to 2 1/4 mile drag events. and 3 or 4 60-130 events.
With that said, the car now "feels" better now on launch than it ever did. I hear so many times about the vibration and I am at a loss. Either it was luck or experience on the install or they really work, but its smooth as silk even up to 201mph at the texas mile last march and 196mph last weekend #427 even bouncing off the rev limiter in 1st trying to dial in the launch rpm
