So I have developed a slight "clunk" noise in the front end when going over bumps, slow speed. Think parking lot speed bumps, off camber corners, etc. Nothing at speed. To me, with my limited ability, it sounds like a loose nut on a shock tower or some other connection point.
I'd like to get inside the suspension and make sure everything is torqued to the correct specs, but need the specs and what to look for.
Is there any write up or manual that can guide me?
Many thanks!
you should be able to shake the front end down and find it. Look and sway bar end links, shocks (either upper bushings gone or not tight at the bottem) lower ball joints. I sometimes will take a big *** hammer and smack the tire along the tread and listen for noises. That along with just simply shaking the tire back and fort hshould get you some results
Humm, ok, sway bar end links. I'll get them checked out. Does anyone know of a TSB on this issue? I always like to have some info for the dealer.
Thanks
In addition to end links, there are also service bulletins out for improper differential fluid installed at the factory that needs to be replaced. It results in the differential makeing a cracking noise that actually comes from the rear but can fool you into thinking it is from the front suspension.
There is another service bulletin out for loose axle nuts. Read up on all 3 subjects here if you want to really get rid of the racket, or a competent dealer might check them out for you.
