Default Z06 conversion

hey guys, i was wondering if it was possible to put the Z06 front bumper on an 05 coupe while still keeping the stock front fenders on it, or will they not match up? and also if i did the Z06 conversion on the rear & left the stock front fenders on would the rear be wider than the front? or would it look stupid? the reason i ask is because i was going to try to save some money and change out only the front bumper with the Z06 bumper & change out the rear panels for the Z06 panels. i hope this doesnt confuse anybody and hope yall can understand it. if so please let me know. thanks in advance.

I've heard the ZO6 bumper can be used with the C6 fenders with a little elbow grease. Should work fine. IMO, I would change out the front fenders as well. It will look wider in the back but no by much. There are plenty of guys who only changed out the rears and liked it. When I did my wide body conversion I changed the front fenders because the heat extractor vents were bigger than the regular C6 and fenders were much wider.

oh okay, well do you think it would look stupid to do just the bumper & rear fenders and leave the front fenders stock?

also, what parts did you use, aftermarket or oem? & where did you get the parts from?

This is what you need to run a Z06 bumper on stock fenders

It comes with that chin spoiler, that was my turn off for that piece also. When you look at directly from the front, it looks to stretched for the stock C6 body lines.

yeah thats exactly why i dont care for it, a little too stretched out for me.

so i cant just put on a Z06 bumper and it match up good with my stock fenders?

I don't think it would look stupid. It's really a matter of preferance. I was going to do just the rear but ended up doing the front to be able to fit my wide 295s up front...that and it looks better.

I used all original GM parts. I didn't want the problems that come with getting aftermarket. I got all the parts from different forum members including my ZO6 wheels. I highly recommend using GM parts, at least for the front fenders and bumper. I think I paid around 1700 for my fenders (which are much lighter than the C6 versions), 450 for my bumper, 900 for my rear 1/4s and a few hundred extra for little trim pieces and clips. Just remember, if you want to install ZO6 wheels you need to get C6 offsets if you don't upgrade your fenders.

I've heard it can be done. It's been talked about it on this forum before. Maybe someone who has the ZO6 bumper with stock fenders will post his thoughts.

Quick answer,, NO. The fenders on the base and Z are different and the it wont line up. I'm not sure who makes it but there is someone else on the forum that makes a bumper that does fit and uses the factory chin spoiler.

The front GM OEM nose did not look right on the ones I've seen. Very pinched together with the C6 fenders. Looks natural with the Z06.

The rears alone seem to look great! Your call.

Here you go. This is available with or without the chin spoiler. The difference is the grille opening is standard C6 but has the Z06 style opening on the upper part of the cover. It will work with the base C6 front fenders. OH Yea it's also your least expensive option.
