Default balancer pulley advice

I have read some threads about this subject and just want some advice. I own a 2005 vin 07820. I purchased the car with 22000 miles about a year ago, and noticed a slight wobble, since I have put 23000 more miles on it and have not gotten a rattle or squeal out of the front of the motor. I just looked at the pulley again and it appears to wobble about 1/32" to 1/16".

So my question is to you guys should I stick with the old saying "if it aint broke don't fix it" or should I see about having it replaced?

I'm just looking for your oppinions. The car now has 45000 miles on it. I love to drive it and drive it everyday.

I noticed the same thing on my 07 C6 with 33K miles while flushing the coolant system. Dont know if its a common problem with these cars. I had a LS2 Gto that didnt do that. Also it looks like changing the pulley would be a PITA with the steering rack right there in front of it.

It may still fail. If you have no warranty, pay off or kiss your service guy/gal at your dealer, and see if he/she can get it covered by GM for you! It can still fail after all these years. It's a big repair job to install the DEW, diamond embedded washer. But a much bigger bill and dangerous if it goes! This applies to '05 VINs before 11039.

My car had the wobbles so I replaced it with one from ATI. I also keep a spare belt in the car for long trips. I have talked to a few people with this problem and it seems to be common. IMO I think at the very least it is worth the piece of mind to change it. Good luck.

I would do your best brown nosing on this one. This engineering snafu was one big reason I got the extended warranty on my car. It was covered as a prophylactic measure, and I think the bill was in the $800 range.
