I'm a DIY kinda guy but sometimes it looks like I did it myself. I'm guessing you considered this already and decided against it.
Someone must have installed one on this forum Speak up!
IMO, I had a windscreen on my previous car (not a Vette) and hated it. It changed the look, had to be removed for the top to go up and got rid of too much wind. However, my friends with a Porsche and BMW love theirs so like I said before, it's just my opinion.
Good luck,
Jeff
Some C5 owners said it worked great in their car and cut out alot of the whipping that goes behind the head. The wife is the one I am buying this for, I have not been able to contact a C6 owner with one.
As far as DIY, Elio(a friend--call name "in22fun") is a great mechanic but I do not want to burden him with more work. He fixes all of our vettes in the club for free labor plus parts. I prefer not to impose.
After the initial install, one would also have to connect some wires to the wires operating the vert to keep the top from coming down on it and bending components.
I have seen pics of the product on the C6 and it looks good via pics.
One dealer in Carrollton thinks they have installed the GM brand once before in a C6. They indicated that the C5 was much easier.
The Chevrolet dealership in Lewisville----mine would be a first.
This screen requires removal of the speakers, cutting of the carpets and drilling two large holes in the body to stabilize the brackets.
Looking for someone that has experience and the capability.
DIY install is a simple job unless you're totally all thumbs. Installed in my '05 Vert with no problem at all. Instructions are very straight forward & NO DRILLING IS REQUIRED. The speaker panel comes out with a couple of pop fittings, the mounting brackets sit on the cross rib behind the seats & the bolt holding them in place screws into existing thread nuts in the body brackets. There's a small bit of carpet cutting required, but only an inch or two. Whole job took less than 45 minutes.
Can someone post some pics of what it looks like installed? I have been going back and forth on this for sometime. Also, can you leave it in and operate the top???
I have 2 large screws that are suppose to be used to secure the brackets to the car. Also 2 rubber grommets should be used after the two holes are drilled out to help secure the screws.
The instructions that came with it were all hand-drawn, there were no pics.
Since I bought this used, I am missing 2 rubber grommets and the template that is suppose to be used to act as a guide for your drill.
Also, there are wire connections that need to be made into the wires that operate the top to keep the top from being activated while the screen is in place.
