What did they change on the 06 so you do not have to shift to reverse, I would have though GM would have come out with a modification for the 05 cars by now. What year did they make the change or did they.
If you're talking about the "shift to reverse" when parking the car that was particular to the '05 model only. From '06 forward you didn't need to have the car in reverse to stop the battery from discharging. Hope this helps.
What a would like to no is, can I get my 05 modified so I no longer have to shift to reverse
to avoid power drain. What was done to fix this on the newer cars. Maybe some one at corvette can tell me if can modify my 05.

Short answer is - No, you can't get rid of the 'shift to reverse' requirement in the 2005. It's a purposely-designed, intrinsic part of the 2005 C6 electronics. In 2006, they didn't 'fix' it, they designed it out of the system.
I suppose if you replaced the cars computers and wiring harness with parts from a 2006 C6, you could get rid of the 'shift to reverse' problem, but thats several thousand dollars of parts and labor.

I've had my '05 since new & the "shut down in Reverse" is just something you get used to doing.
Once you shut the car down and the computer realizes the car is at rest you can take the car out of reverse. You don't have to always leave it in reverse.

What would be the purpose of taking it out of reverse? That's just adding another wasted action.
Reverse when parking the car has been a normal thing for me since the low compression flathead V8's of my youth. Parking brake and reverse still wouldn't hold the car on some of the hills in my younger days. Reverse offers the greatest resistance to rolling of any other gear gear.
Why don't we ever hear from the A4 and A6 guys bitching about having to shift to Park when stopping the car?
