Default Problem with 2005 DTE Diff

Hey guys - ran into an issue with my new DTE differential. My car is a 2005 A4 - i was able to get it in with no issues, everything went smooth - back out of my garage and down my driveway and its leaking oil the whole way....

Get it back in the garage, and see the issue. There's a small notch on the bottom of the tranny, and with the open face of the DTE diff the oil just squirts right out when the gears are moving. I'm going to call em Monday but in the meantime has anybody run into this?

Pics below

My car has been down for way to long - I miss driving it!

Default Looks broken

In the pic you posted it kinda looks like a piece has broken off. Not too familiar with the assembly here though. If there is a gasket that goes between the dif and trans, I think it will not seal properly. Might need to get someone with a tig welder to build the missing section back up, then file it flush. If you can find the missing piece, jb weld it back on. Good Luck.

Dude, looks pretty obvious from the pics that you need to install that plate that holds the gasket in. Is there really no gasket around the input shaft??? Maybe its just the pics, but really looks like u missin somethin.

I bet you did not transfer the seal plate over to the new DTE differential. The place that looks like a piece is missing is normal and not a problem. The seal plate is the piece in the pic that is in the front side of the old diff that has the seal in it and says trans side. The plate must be transfered over to the new diff or you will have a major diff fluid leak. They are sometimes tricky to remove, if you have trouble getting it out give us a call and I can suggest a few ways to make it easier.

Default Took another look

Well after looking a your stock diff picture again, looks like the part on the stock diff that has "Trans Side" stamped on has a seal in the center. Might need to transfer this part to the new diff. I am basing this on nothing but looking at the pics, I've never actually seen these parts taken apart before seeing these pics. So, I might be totally wrong.

I thought that too -about maybe having to move the piece that says "Trans side" to the new one... I'll have to take a closer look at that piece - didn't really look like it came off.
