Default Need HELP A6 tranny problems..

My buddy has a 08 C6 with A6 tranny. It has a 3200 stall, milled heads, cam, longtubes. It makes about 460rwhp. The car does fine on the street shifts good.

When we took it to the track it wouldn't want to shift correctly. Sometimes it would shift early then sometimes it would bounce off the limiter.

We ran the car with 335/30/18 hoosier drag radials it would cut 1.6 60fts car never spun just wouldn't shift correct. It seemed the more you did a burnout and stall the car (putting heat into it) multiplied the problem.

Any help on fixing the problem.

It sounds like the same problem that I had the first time I went to the track with my 3.42s. The problem is twofold. First, the converter is making the trans shift at a different rate and speed. The second part is with the tires that you used at the track. In the tune, I changed my tire sizing for my my size DR at the track. I also had to slightly change my shift points at the track to get it dead on and stop hitting the rev limiter. But remember change the shift points on the WO tables using MPH. The RPM tables do nothing. Hope it helps.

The car was tuned with the Hoosier drag radials on it. The car does fine on the street (w/ drag radials) at the track it's totally different.

Default On second thought...

Since the e-mail notification for new PMs isn't currently working it'd probably be quicker to just e-mail me directly at syclone98@hotmail.com.

Sure, not a problem.

There's a fuel cutoff setting in the tune called "Acceleration based limiting" which can act as a secondary rev-limiter if the car ends up accelerating faster than the PCM expects it to, usually because of a converter, gears, or anything other performance based mod.

In order to solve it there's a single value that needs to be zeroed out in the tune and I'm pretty sure that's at least one of the causes here as it typically manifests itself in the form of what seems like a rev-limiter problem, but at lower RPMs than you would expect.

The second possible cause can be fixed by changing some transmission settings in the tune. What I noticed is that my car would shift properly at the track with the first cam I put in but wouldn't at all with the bigger cam. I spent a few hours one night researching this and figured out what changes were needed to resolve it and the car now runs super consistent.

I have a before and after tune if anybody's interested in seeing what changes are needed.
