I have a set of 891's that have a small gap between the centers and the lips that are a bear to clean - specifically brake dust. Does anyone have tricks to cleaning this area?
aftermarket rims are nice to look at but are a PITA to clean. I am considering selling mine and going back to stock -- Im sick of cleaning them for it to look good for 2 days. Anyone want some 18/19 CCW 505'a with PS2 and about 4,2000 miles on them
Get a paint brush, perhaps a 2" size one. That is what I use to clean around the valve stem and in the recess where the lug nuts are. Be careful of the steel band that holds the bristles on, as it will scratch the poo out of any surface its' edge gets too close to. Please don't ask how I know about the scratching.
I have ccw 505 detail with Mothers Billet or if going for an extreme shine use english polish. Follow up with either dp wheels seal or poorboys. wheel seal, makes the shine last longer and helps with brake dust.

Just to be specific, these are full chrome wheels, so cleaning the larger areas are not a problem, however thre is a small gap (1/4") between the center and the lip all the way to the back of the lip that is difficult to get to. That is the area that is getting brake dust build up.

how cheap? i mean u hate em and they are a pita to clean right?
I had my car professionally detailed last summer... cost me $200 bucks for wash/clay/wash/polish/2 coats of wax... this is a new business in town, guy my wife new from High School who's been into cars his whole life...
For $200 bucks, my car was the cleanest/shinyest/prettiest its ever been...
I was amazed at how he got the wheels so clean... he told me he used some kind of acid wash that got all the brake dust/drips out of the inner rim...
For all I know he may have sprayed it with muratic acid... I asked him, he said it was just a dilute acid that wouldn't harm the aluminum, chrome or brakes...
