Why wouldn't they be competitive, they're used in drag racing all the time. Once the torque convertor locks up your in direct drive. Top speed is the result of how much horsepower you have.
Thanks for your reply.. I was just wondering since ive seen a bunch of these cars pictures including interior shots and all seem to be 6spd,i also attended the mile here in fl and didnt see a single auto,i know in drag racing auto is the way to go but i dont know how they do in top end.
I think that for top end speed, an M6 would be best since less power is lost going through the drive train. An A6 will rob more power than an M6. I agree there is no reason you couldn't be competitive with an A6, however, a lot of those at the TX Mile are shooting for 200MPH and putting that kind of power through an A6 would be difficult compared to putting it through an M6.

Thats only because, real men and car lovers buy sports cars with manual tranny's
Manual or Auto 150 is easy, 180 is tuff and possible with enuf room. At 180-185 there is this wall that takes alot of HP to get past,,,,,200?? thats tuff and will take a little Forced induction or NOS. thats just my take tho
