Default Check engine light for oil change?

I have 2008 C6, highly modded. The other day coolant was running real hot between 240 and 260. Something is wrong with thermostat that will be checked out this week. But my question is when ran around 260 computer put car in safe mode and at same time my oil life went to 0% before this was around 60% left. Now that it's at 0% my check engine light is on would oil indicator cause this?

oil life wont cause CEL from my understanding but if you doubt just reset it (get to oil life on the Dic and hold reset for a few seconds) the temp at 260? thats way to hi and nearing head gasket blowing. You sure you dont have low coolant or air in the system?

I don't think that the 0% oil life if the cause of the CEL. It's most likely the result of the high temps and the limp mod. Check the stat and read the codes. Good luck

Yes I know way to hot during the summer would run 180-220 max and now that it is alot cooler should be 180-200 I would think. I will have car checked out this week to see what is causing the problem.

Thanks for help

Just went out and car has plenty of coolant in tank, and I also started the car and reset the oil life. Turned the car off and restarted car and the CEL went off.

Either just coincidence or that was causing the CEL. Of course need to really figure out what is going on.

When ran car today it would get real hot while sitting around 230-240 and when I would drive car would go back down to around 195-200. So might be problem with fan or thermostat what do you guys think?

sounds like your fan. also check your battery, because when i used a c6 fan on my TBSS if it had less than 11.5 volts the fan will stop working.
