Did they say why it didn't pass this time.

Keep in mind LT headers are not emissions legal because the cats have to be relocated from the factory location.

Did you try a $50.00 bill?

Did you have the computer re-flashed by the dealer?

Seriously you would be suprised at what a little "extra" cash will do as far as you getting what you want..ie a passed inspection.

Is your check eng light on? This will cause the car to fail emission. I experience more that once with cats on the car and off that you'll fail if the check eng light is on.

LOL....any state that uses mechanized instruments to collect the test data (i.e. NY NJ) ties that data to the Pass/Fail of the vehicle. The inspector cannot override the data in the machine.

That could do it!

I had another car with that I had the battery disconnected for the winter and then took it in for NY insprction and had it flash an error. I had to drive it a few miles to reset the computer. Went back and it passed.

Check you state emission regulations.

In Texas, they changed the "pass" standards this year and you have to pass all the PCM self tests but one. There are many monitor status reports stored in the PCM that are checked during inspection. My car failed the catalyst and evap control tests. I believe the catalyst test is the rear O2 test you failed. They don't always trigger a check engine light, however.

I simply reloaded the factory ignition advance table and it passed after a short drive. And my car has a mild cam, headers, ported cylinder heads, and other stuff. I failed the evap status but I still passed because I was allowed 1 to fail. Last year, you were allowed 2 to fail.

In Texas, the OBDII PCM monitors status of the following:
- Misfires
- Fuel System
- Comp Cmpt
- Catalyst (I think the rear o2 sensors provide feedback on the cat efficiency)
- Evap
- 02 sensor (this must be the front 02 sensors)
- 02 Sensor heater
- EGR system (none on the LS2)
- DLC (don't know this one)

Others marked as "N/A" are:
- Heated Cat
- 2nd Sys
- Air Cond

So, its important to see the test results before taking action. If you do redo the tune, HP Tuners will provide you the status of the tests so you don't have to keep going back and paying for a new test.

Good luck.

Thats what I'd put my money on... My brothers had his TBSS reflashed by the dealer multiple times... My buddy uses EFI live... That seems like a great fix for it. Delete the O2's yourself.

Default NYS inspection

If you disconnect the battery, you must drive 50 miles. Also, get the car up to operating temp before inspection. Also, if you have a ck engine light, you must clear it for at least 30 days before inspection. THe computer has a memory. Todays inspection is a plug into the computer to scan memory. Also, test your o2 voltage, see if they are the right range. I would replace them if they are not reading correctly.

Have you thought about MIL eliminators? On my other car, I had an offroad x-pipe (no cats) installed with mil eliminators and had no error codes. It passed NYS insp. I don't understand why yours won't pass if you have cats? I also used a predator tuner, but it was a newer tuner and wouldn't allow eliminiation of 02's.

I would step through the tune and see if the 02 option comes up, if so get rid of them, reset codes and try insp again. If that doesn't work, call Jules or maybe you should call him anyway.

Look at this too!
