No issues for me...done this for years in all four automatic vettes I have owned.
I do change trans oil and filter every 20K miles (old C4 heavy duty service schedule recommendation) never experiencing burnt or brown fluid.
I also lift and blip as necessary.
Let the computer do the shifting. If you want to shift, you should have gotten a manual 6 speed
Yeah, but this is my daily driver and I hate clutching in rush hour traffic This is why I got the Automatic! Sometimes I want the car to compression brake, so I down shift. Just wanted to know if there were any ill effects on doing so on these A4 trannys.
I haven't gotten a tune yet on the car, so the A4 is really slow/sluggish in upshifting and down shifting.

auto's are not known for there compression braking, you'd really need a special TC made for that, come on you like two run it up to 5 or 6 grand in 2nd or 3rd and back off and then stand on it again to impress your buddies... HUH.......
The shifter has 4 different forward positions from the factory, what else would they be there for if not to use?
I do it whenever I feel the need for speed.
