Default Seperating the M6 from the rear diff... help

Ok, 05 M6. Pulling the transmission. I have four bolts removed from the transmission to diff flange. Are there more? I only see the four and she will not budge. HELP!

Did you get the two nuts underneath near the leaf spring?

I guess I am an idiot. Any one have some pictures? I just see four, not five, not six, not two nuts by the leaf spring... if there is more, I will get the dumb *** award of the day.

I hope you find them, but don't feel bad. I did a clutch on my 94 Z28 years ago and I had a great "how-to" on the internet that said there were 6 bolts holding the bell housing onto the engine. Truth was there were seven and I tried and tried to get that bell housing off until I finally found the 7th bolt. If it's not budging, I'm betting there is 1 or 2 bolts still holding it on.

Good luck,

Thought I would help a fellow Austinite out and got the Helms Manual out. No help! Really vague pictures and descriptions. Ex.; "remove the differential to transmission bolts and nuts." From their poor illustrations it looks like 8 fasteners trans case to diff case!

Are you using a Helms shop manual?

Ok. It's NOT on the jack. It's on the cradle sitting on the ground. I don't have the Helms, I have Mitchel on Demand access (It has all of GM's reference pics and procedures). The pictures are just as vague as the manuals...just online. Yeah, it's shows way more bolts that are actually present. And the "one" on the bottom...well. I pulled one that appeared to have have gone into the case...but I can't tell, nothing gave. Maybe, someone could post a picture of the "bottom" bolt? Please?! Or better, post a pic of all the bolt locations? I am usually pretty fair at R&R work...but this is embarrassing.

These two nuts, on each side.

I don't see the bolt on the bottom. The black bolt in the photo here is not part of the equation.

what is really pissing me off, is that I just realized break fluid has already dripped on the top of my T/A at by this point...awesome.

The Helms procedure calls for removing everything from the trans/differential before seperating them.

According to my 2006 Corvette Service Manual, Vol 3, there are five fasteners that secure the transaxle to the transmission. Each fastener is tightened to (37 lb ft). There are two bolts that go from the top side of the transaxle to the transmission. There is one nut on the bottom side of the transaxle that fastenes to a stud from the transmission. There are two nuts on the transmission side that fasten to studs protruding from the transaxle. (Two Bolts and three nuts that attach to studs, a total of 5 fasteners).

here's a few pics when I swapped out my 05 diff with an 06+ diff

There are 4 bolts and 1 nut that needs to be removed to seperate the diff from the tranny. The bottom nut is really tucked in there, you will need an open end wrench to reach it pita! Hope these pics help

here's a pic of both 06+ and 05 tail housings

-On the 2006+ diffs they have 6 bolts and 2 nuts

-2005 diffs have 4 bolts and 1 nut

06+ Left vs 05 Right

The '05 Helms illustrations are of the '06 trans/diff!?!? 8 fasteners shown.

Lots of wrong info in the '05 Helms? Looks like Helms uses a cut and paste by non-mechanics.

So far I've found wrong info on;
The intake manifold removal; "Drain coolant required".
Illustration and directions for brake removal/install are wrong.
Trans/differential removal/install illustration and directions wrong.
