Ok
I have a 2005 m6 with factory HUD
Two things have happened lately (before the problem with the HUD)
1. My radio(standard bose 6 disc in dash-no nav) says CD initializing and will not reset no matter what.
Radio stays on, so radio fuse has been pulled (ordered a replacement radio)
2. Relay 46 (European wiper fuse) has been pulled.
i had my battery
go down, thought it may have been dead battery syndrome (DBS)but found out it was the radio staying on draining it.
My hud now says 0 mph. Sometimes it will start working accurately, then give me a funny (jumps all over) mph reading. All other HUD info works great. right now HUD says 0mph all the time.
MPH is this way no matter what mode you are in. Track, street, etc
Does the radio\radio fuse or relay 46 have anything to do with this?
seems the dash and hud would be fed by same signal for speed, but thats just an assumption based on when i did my HUD add on i "tapped" into the feed wire for it and i think it was a serial data type feed wire. I would get a wiring diagram if you can and see what feeds them,,good luck, paul
I figured it out!
Seems the stock 6 disc radio (or at least the power to it) has something to do with the HUD!!
Plugged in the radio fuse and whalla!!!
Works now!
When you interrupt +12v power to the radio you also interrupt the class 2 data communication from the radio to the HUD.
So I am assuming if I get a radio with Navigation (GM of course) all I have to do to get the nav directions to show up on the HUD is plug it in to the existing radio harness??
