Is there anything special I should be doing to keep my steering wheel from locking up after I replaced my Stock 05 trans and diff to a 07 Z06 trans & diff?

I'd pull the steering wheel and remove the lock plate completely.

Thanks!
Transmission reverse gear lock out or steering column lock? The title is confusing.

Sorry, I think the issue is with the Reverse Gear Lock Out.
I've converted from the stock 05 trans & diff which requires the car be put into reverse to kill the engine. If you don't, the dash display asks that the car be put into reverse, and the battery dies.... I'm installing an 07 Z06 trans & diff which obviously doesn't come with that option...

Thanks again!
The shift to reverse shutdown requirement is not a function of the transmission, but rather the electrical architecture and the steering column lock. If you replace the transmission, I assume you will still need to shut down in revese if you have a 2005 model.

I was wrong, there are three connections on the 05 trans, the Z06 only has two connectors or "bungs" as I like to call them.
The one that has to do with the reverse has a ball on the end that trips the electronic column lock.
Andy and A&A said that "he thinks" that the two wires should just be connected, telling the computer that it's ok to shut down or whatever, but recommends calling TJ @ RPM (good advice!).
Again, Andy takes time out of his day to help with something that he didn't even sell to me. AWESOME GUY fellas, I'm telling you!
I'll try and get in touch with TJ, and see if he is as kind and generous as the A&A guys....
