I have been reading the posts and most seem to be related to connection with a Nav system. Unfortunately, I just traded my 04 for an 08 LT1 coupe - without the Nav system. It does have the XM module but isn't activated and don't really care to use it.
I would like to use one of the adapters that connect to the XM module and avoid pulling the head unit.
Which adapters will work with this configuration and what cables are required?
You should be able to use a USA Spec Ipod device for full integration.
I have an 07 and no Ipod connectivity is killing me. However, in 08+ models XM became standard. That opened the door for USA Spec. I forget the model number but their website says it is compatible with an 08 with factory sat. installed (which all 08s have). Wish my 07 had that.
The USA Spec device is nice. I had one in my 03 Accord. I liked it alot. It gives you full integration of IPod + charging. Control the ipod through your stereo controls and steering wheel controls. Google "usa spec" and go to their homepage. Use the drop down options to configure your car.
I have researched Ipod connectivity pretty relentlessly. For 05 -07 you are screwed without Nav; for 08+ you are fine without Nav.
I don't consider an Aux input as "ipod integration". That definition only gets bestowed when you can control the unit through the stereo, song will stop mid-song when car turns off and then resumes, etc + charging. Don't know how PAL compares to USA Spec but I'm betting the USA Spec is better.

I put the USA Spec ipod adapter in my winter vehicle, a Toyota 4Runner, and it is a great device. Workers perfectly. Great sound. Works with the steering wheel controls too.
For the Vette I just burn MP3 disks and get 100 songs per disk.
Not the same as the ipod, I know, but it works for me.
I think I am going to give the USA Spec a try, as I am used to control at the radio. I had used another brand in my C5 with limited options but was at least able to control the major functions and keep the iPod charged. This unit appears to allow additional control functions and should fit the bill nicely.
go to Best Buy they have a kit for about 150.00 i think. here is the link-http://www.bestbuy.com/site/iSimple+-+Apple%26%23174%3B+iPod%26%23174%3B+Dire ct+Connect+Kit+for+Select+GM+Vehicles/8760888.p?id=1202650491628&skuId=8760888 &st=ipod%20to%20car&cp=1&lp=3
I need Alt 3 - aux jack without XM. My 07 doesn't have an mp3 aux jack. I see in the instruction manual the CD/AUX button says you can access a remote playback device by pressing the button twice. How is a remote playback device connected? Is this the connection for XM?
