I don't post here much, but I thought some of you would like to see the trans cooler I installed recently. The cooler I purchased from Summit Racing, it's a Fluidyne #30216, it's not cheap, but very well made. It has 2 mounting flanges, 1 of which I cut to 1/2" wide and tapped for machine screws. I then bought a piece of 1 1/2X 1/16" angle aluminum and cut one side to 1/2" wide. The cooler will be bolted to this 1/2" side. The aluminum angle is bolted to the frame where the spoiler is attached. I next made a screen, to protect the cooler from debris, out of a screen door security screen available from any Lowe's or Home Depot. I cut holes in the shroud using a 7/8" hole saw and ran the lines thru placing rubber grommets in the shroud. The pipe fitting to AN adapters, the AN fittings and the braided hose, I also purchased from Summit. I bought an upper transmission tube from GM, cut it and installed 2 fittings from Pure Motorsports(#12320) to connect into the existing fluid circuit. Once all was in place, the front of the screen was held in place by long body screws with 2" nylon spacers. After installing and topping off with Dexron VI, trans temps are down 20*-30*.

I don't track the car yet, but plan on doing so this summer. Next project is a Z06 oil cooler, 20* cooler oil temps and an additional quart of oil, how can you lose!
Normally in the cold weather, trans temps will run about 156*-158*cruising on the highway. Now they are running around 126*-130*. Idling at a stop light I haven't seen it get warmer than around 136*-140*. In case you are interested this trans cooler is definitely a heavy duty piece, if you look at the first picture at the mounting flange, that is 1/16" aluminum, this is what makes up the front and back sides of the cooler. The end tanks are heli-arc welded to the core as are the female fittings in the top of the tanks, very nicely made.
What fittings did you use to go from the factory to AN??
did you flare the factory tube??
Nice Job, I have a trans cooler now, but I'm not happy with the mounting.
yours looks rock solid!!
can you e-mail me any extra info swiftss1@msn.com
thanks
Phil

2- Summit-220649 fittings
2- 12320 3/8" flare to 6 AN adapter
6'-8' SS braided neoprene hose
1- #10303834 upper trans tube from GM cut this one and save old one incase something goes wrong
4- #24205103 retainers (clips - insurance) when the originals fly off and are never seen again
2-1 1/8" X 3/4" grommets(Lowe's)
3- 3/4" 10-24 SS screws(Lowe's)
3-3" long SS wood screws(Lowe's)
3-3/16" fender washers(Lowe's)
