Default CAI questions

Can I expect a performance gain with the installation of a CAI if I don't have a special tune installed? If yes, which unit should I buy? Thanks all!!

The Vararam has shown some good gains on the race track, but these are not measurable sitting static in a hot dyno room (ram air doesn't work sitting still!) Be prepared to check it regularly as the seals shrink up and it will start pulling unfiltered dirty air in behind the filter. Also, it will require cutting the stock radiator shroud or purchasing their pre-cut shroud and a lot of work swapping them out.

LG is making a newly designed carbon fiber CAI. It looks to be top quality, but expect to pay more for the carbon fiber over cheap plastic.

if you don't want to tune the car just buy K&N replacement filters.

The Vararam is a great functioning system as long as you get a good one fit wise but make sure you budget for a tune if you replace your stock setup with any aftermarket unit.

The problem you still have to overcome is heat soak. The MAS and AIT sensors aver very close to the radiatior and water hoses, which always radiate heat. It will take some time at a steady speed for incoming cold air to cool those companants down. On my car, I have a vette air, K&N air charger and a home made cold ari box (similat to the Halltech Beehive). At the drags, IAT was measuring around 146 degrees while staging, and was 98degrees at the 1/4 finish. The combination of parts works, but 146 degrees destroys your 60' time.

Vararam gave me 0.2 to 0.3 sec in quarter mile. No tune needed with CAI. Make sure you do your research before install.
