Question If anyone knows?
I have a 2006 c6 6 speed,base model.I was thinking of adding a procharger.I used to own a 1999 ss camaro and the rear ends in the fbodys are very weak when adding power.Can any one tell me what size ring gear is in the ls2 c6? And if there is a difference between the ring gear size between stock c6,c6 zo6,and ZR1? or are they all the same? I see a lot in Gm hightech, with people just adding Hardened right and left output shafts . I made some phone calls,and im getting mixed answers.RPM transmissions tell me that the stock c6 rearend is weak,and they want to sell me a whole new rearend. they also tell me that the c5 one was much stronger,then other people tell me that all you have to do is get the hardened out put shafts.Can anyone tell me the truth to this?Thanks

Rpm is pretty much the authority on rear ends. Yes the C6 diff is weak. Do a search for blown c6 rear ends there are a lot of them. The autos have the same rear end but dont have as many problems because of the drive train shock. You can upgrade to a newer rear, a c5 rear, or a z06 rear all which take some mild modificaitons but will provide you with a much stronger rear end.

I am not certain on the base Vette but the C6 Z06 has a larger ring and pinion. I believe that the base gear is 8.5" and the C6 Z is running a truck gear.
