Was interested in doing some very minor exhaust work to the vette and was hoping to get some advice i was thinking of just doing an X pipe i am only looking for a little sound nothing to wild. Would this be a good choice.
Its a waste of money. I had this done to my C5 back in 2001 and I was pissed off when I got my car off the lift and was 250+ bucks poorer with it sounding indistinguishable from stock. While it was getting done the tuner was telling another customer that its really a waste of money. I was wondering why he didnt tell me that before I ordered it through him.
Put the money toward headers. If not, go out for a dinner with the money. At least you will have something to show for it.
I have magnaflow mufflers on my 05, and it gives the car a nice sound, not to loud not stock. Go to a muffler shop and talk to them about just changing the mufflers. Oh, and no tune required. I'm happy with mine.

Header install requires a tune to get correct performance, the tune voids your powertrain Warranty regardless of what your dealer says.
I had headers, ported intake and throttlebody as well as a tune on my 06 coupe. I had the tranny replaced and the clutchpacks in the rear as well under warranty no questions asked. I think it depends on the dealer. My service rep's only comment was that the fitment on the headers was excellent.

I tried these and I have one word to describe them DRONE DRONE DRONE in the 1600 to 2000 rpm range. Got rid of them real quick.
