Default Trouble shutting ignition off

This has happened to me twice recently,,I have an 08 btw. After shutting my car down and getting out I noticed the green light around the start button wasn't going out. I got back in and shut it off again, at which time the red light on the button went on, but after getting out and closing the door the green ignition button glowed again. I cycled thru this many times wondering why it was happening but it always did the same thing. Looking at my car and trying to figure out what to do I noticed the rear hatch didn't appear to be all the way closed even thou it was latched (I had put something in the rear at a store earlier) I opened and closed the hatch and presto everything was OK. Today I cleaned my cars interior and after putting it back in the garage the same thing happened. Now we were out earlier and again I had to put something in the hatch area, so I figured it was the same problem but after opening and closing the rear lid several times it still wouldn't go off. At this point and after reading the owners manual I called Steve at Bryners and explained the problem but the best he could do was get me in next Tuesday and he told me to just disconnect the battery til then. Well I when I went to disconnect the battery I saw it was a bit different then any other car I've owned and not wanting to break anything I managed to get ahold of Steve again and asked if he could tell me exactly how to get the terminal off. He said he talked to someone else and he asked me if the interior lights also stay on after I shut the door. I told him they do (we all know there supposed to stay on for a short time). He said that the interior override switch to the left of the steering column may have been accidently pushed on and suggested that I try to reset that. Well it worked,,I must have accidently pressed the button when I was cleaning the dash but to tell you the truth I don't remember doing it. Anyway if you run into the same problem be aware of it. While I have your attention, other then taking the nut off the battery terminal there's what looks like a locking device that has to be removed before you can actually take the cable off. Does anyone know how to do this, or do you just pry up the whole cable and that will come with it. Thanks guys.

Unless they changed the battery terminal clamp from 06 to 08, mine is same. Just pry up on the clamp after removing the nut and should come off.

Thanks ,,I was afraid to pry it up before I had anymore info on it,,it just appears to have some sort of lock washer, for lack of a better description, that has to be removed first.

Heres what I'm talking about.

http://img710.imageshack.us/img710/784/1000693.jpg

Under the nut there's that elongated "washer" thats notched on the end and has the "hook" thru it. My question is,,does that have to come off before I can pull the cable.

Update.

I was told today thats there's no need to even remove the nut,,just loosen and twist the cable off,,thanks for everyones input.

Why don't they mention anything in the owner manual about this switch?

The green light will stay on for 60-90 seconds after the engine is shut down & you exit (and close the door). That's normal. If it's not shutting off at all, then there's some other problem.
