I will be installing this in my garage and was wondering what is the best way to install an axle back?Jack up car with floor jack? use ramps? I just got the car and have no jacking pucks.Should the back wheels be hanging down or shoud i put jack stands under them.I've worked on cars before but have not done much since I sold my 69 camaro 15 years ago. will a sawzall cut stainless pipe? Muffler shop wants 175.00 to install it.
well yes a sawzall will cutt the pipe I used jackstands but I also have the pucks. I think jack stands in the back will be in the way but you can go and buy 4 hockey pucks and 4 eye screws to make your own jacking pucks for the jack stands to go on. shouldn't take that long at all really.
If the exhaust is actually made to fit the car there should be no cutting involved, just slide out the stock mufflers/pipes and put the new ones in, that's how it went with my Corsa. I'm not familiar with the SLP system though. Its an easy project for the DIY'r
I have installed quite a few SLP exhausts and never had a problem. They have some excellent installation instructions on their website. Just go to the listing for the system you have and you will find the link to the instructions. No cutting is needed, just loosen the factory clamp where the muffler connects to the h-pipe and slip off everything to the rear of that. The wheels do have to hang for clearance. Sometimes it helps, to line everything up, if you also loosen the front of the h-pipe.
Just put a corsa sport on my 07 A6 used ramps on the front and jacked the back up and put on jack stands, I checked the height of the car at the bottom of the stock exhaust tips and it was 18.5" and was able to remove the stock system without cutting it, hope this helps.
