Default TPMS sensor trouble

My left rear sensor is stuck at 24 LBS (the tire has 32 lbs cold in it), the sensor is 5 years old and the battery is suppose to be good for 10 years, anyone have a stuck sensor before? The other three are fine, I used the Bartec tool to re set them but it didn't help.

Why did you need to reprogram the sensors?

Do you have another set of wheels/tires with sensors in your garage?

Did you recently swap to a different set of wheels/tires with a different set of sensors in them?

Are you sure you got all the sensors programmed properly?

When you put the car into the learn mode you must get a honk of the horn confirming the car is in the learn mode.

Then, when triggering each sensor, you also must get a honk of the horn at each wheel (double honk at the Left Rear) or you didn't trigger the sensor, or its data was not properly received by the TPMS computer in the car.

If you don't get a honk of the horn at each wheel when triggering each sensor, then the sensor's ID# wasn't properly logged into the TPMS memory.

I have 3 sets of tires and wheels which I swap around several times a year, currently I have on a set of HRE wheels which I have had on the car for several weeks and the sensors have been working fine, now the LR sensor doesn't change when I add air (the tire shows 32 on a tire gauge, 24 per the sensor.) The sensors are about 5 years old, it does gain a pound of psi when I drive it enough to build some heat but I can't change the reading by adding air.

Did you check the other tire pressures with the hand held gauge? You might find one of them sitting at 24.

with Bill

If you did the relearn procedure in the wrong order then if the DIC says Left Rear it could actually be talking about a tire on one of the other corners of the car.

Or.....if the relearn procedure didn't work at all (i.e., if you didn't get a honk of the horn at each corner when you did the procedure to program the HRE sensors), then maybe the sensors from another set of your wheels is still programmed into the TPMS, and it could be picking up those pressures when you pull into your garage.

How are the sensors mounted in your HRE wheels?

Are they mounted with bands deep inside the wheels?

If so, they can be very hard to trigger during the relearn procedure because the antenna of the tool needs to be within a few inches of the sensor to trigger it. You need to know exactly where the sensor is inside the wheel so you can get the antenna of your tool as close as possible to it. Sometimes shooting through the tread of the tire instead of the sidewall works better when a sensor is banded/strapped deep inside the wheel.

Good luck!!

I get horn beeps on all tires with 2 beeps on the last one, my instructions call for starting with the RF and working clockwise to the LF. All the other tires match (within a pound) of my manual gauge and the sensors. Sensors are mounted in the center of the wheel but programing (through the side wall) hasn't been and issue. I will probably buy a new sensor install it and see what happens.
Thanks for the reply's and info!!

If you started with the RF and then went to the LF, you are going counter clockwise. You should start with the LF (driver's side) and then go clockwise to the RF, RR, LR.
