Ceramic Brake Pad Smell
I've got a burning smell coming from my brakes. Got any ideas on its cause?
I installed a full set of AC Delco Durastop ceramic brake pads in my 09 F55 Coupe this past weekend. All went well, followed the service manual, and performed the bedding brakes process the next day. Took the vette up to the Valley of Fire north of Las Vegas. I'm here on business for a month.
I've had it up on a lift twice since then trying to figure out the cause.
No leaks, no temperature differences, no uneven wear, resevoir is OK. I'm wondering if the silicone grease that was provided in the kit is the culprit. I put it only on the areas where the caliper/pistons touched the pads. I was quite liberal with the amount.
Is the grease gassing off when the brakes heat up?
Before you ask, pads were swapped out to cut down on cleaning wheels. I prefer to drive more that clean...
Thanks in advance for the help!
