Fluid Help Please ( Tranny/Diff/Clutch/Brake )
LIST UPDATED - THANK YOU SUBDRIVER
My recommendation for the C6 Z51:
Transmission: AMSOIL Torque-Drive Synthetic Transmission Fluid 4 QUARTS (Product Code ATD1G)
(This is a Dexron III fluid that is the correct spec for the Tremec Manual in GM applications - I use this fluid in my 02 Z06 on the track and used it in my recently sold 06 CTS-V)
Diff: AMSOIL Severe Gear Extreme Pressure Synthetic 75w90 (Product Code SVGQT) 3 Quarts
Note that while the Severe Gear 75w90 comes with friction modifier in it, and I do not need extra in my 02 Z06 (or my 06 CTS-V) most C6 owners report needing more modifier to prevent diff chatter. I recommend one bottle of this:
AMSOIL Slip-Lock Differential Additive (Product Code ADATB) 1 Bottle
Also, for the DIYer: AMSOIL Hand Pump (Product Code G2039)
Brake/Clutch Fluid: AMSOIL Series 500 High Performance DOT 3 Brake Fluid
AMSOIL Series 600 DOT 4 Racing Brake Fluid 1 Bottle for clutch fluid ( 12 oz ), 1 Quart for a flush flush ( 1 quart = 4 12 oz Bottles )
Note that GM specs a DOT 3 brake fluid. If you are willing to step away from that recommendation, the DOT 4 is the better fluid and I use it in my Z06. DOT 4 is also the right fluid for the clutch.
I use and recommend this grease for those few applications I need grease:
AMSOIL Series 2000 Synthetic Racing Grease, NLGI #2
(Very resistant to high heat loads) ( 1 Bottle )

Also, I could not find the right lubricant for the rear toe end link Z51
Does everything look right? and does anyone know how many of each I should get?
Thanks Guys !
Forum members speak highly of Amsoil products. Try their web site.
They should have everything you need.
Is amsoil more of a factory replacement or high performance like the fluids above.
Also, so I guess that means all the fluids I listed are the right specs? Just want to make sure I order the right stuff.
Thank you !

Since it looks like you have an auto based on your selections, I would go with the Amsoil ATF, use their ATF not ATL, ATL is their Dexron VI spec'd fluid, ATF is Dexron III compatible.
For brake AND clutch, you can use Amsoils DOT4 brake fluid for both. It's a good product and not as expensive as some but more than others..Just so you know, DOT3 is specified for these systems from GM but DOT 4 would be an upgrade IMHO.
As to Redline water wetter, I have used it and saw no benefit. But that is me, if you want to use it I see no issues.
Last of all, if you cannot find an Amsoil dealer close to you, contact user Subdriver on these forums. He is a good resource and last I remember he is a forum sponsor.
And to answer your other question I feel Amsoil is a high performance upgrade over the factory fill fluids.
If I can help any more, let me know.
oops didnt notice the fluid I selected was ATF
What do you reccomend for the manual tranny fluid from amsoil
Thanks so much for taking the time to respond
Regarding the amsoil Manual tranny fluid/ Which one do you all recommend?
Manual Synchromesh Transmission Fluid 5W-30
Manual Transmission & Transaxle Gear Lube 75W-90
Super Shift Racing Transmission Fluid SAE 10W
Also a recommendation for rear toe end lubricant z51

And here is a discussion about the grease for the Z51 http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c6-t...nk-grease.html
Hope that helps.

I am trying to figure out how much worth of fluids to order
For the differential I read I need 3 Quarts
Transmission fluid 4 Quarts
1 Bottle of brake fluid for the clutch

As to the brakes I really don't know, but when I changed my fluids to DOT4, it took about a quart. The clutch system is actually a fairly small, fluid wise, system. I assume you are going to do a drain and fill the clutch master cylinder only so a pint would probably be enough for that, and you can do it 3-5 times. Just use up all the fluid in the container quickly since brake fluid absorbs water and you don't want that in your clutch/brake systems.
Did that help?
Im going to update the first post with the quarts and types of fluids incase any one else ever asks
Though I explained it to Richor on the phone, sharing here for anyone reading this thread. The above quote is based on GM's fluids. For anyone following C6 diff chatter threads, this will be old news. When the C6 came out, many owners (most?) experienced diff chatter, normally most evident in sharp slow speed turns like coming out of a driveway, in parking lots etc. The GM fluid, even with additive, did not have the appropriate friction characteristics for the C6 diff. Someone tried the AMSOIL Severe Gear 75w90 with one bottle of additive years ago and found it cured the diff chatter issue and after many thousands of miles it stayed cured. Circa 2008 GM came out with a new fluid, the Dexron LS 75w90. This fluid has significant amounts of friction modifier already in it and thus the statement above that indicates additive no longer required. A little bit of a misnomer as the modifier really is still required, its just in the gear lube now. At something like $28 a quart, the GM fluid is about three times more than the Preferred Customer pricing of the AMSOIL Severe Gear.
Though GM changed their fluid, AMSOIL has not and for those using the AMSOIL Severe Gear 75w90 in the C6, I recommend one bottle of additive. Note that as I mentioned above, I run this same fluid without extra additive in my 02 Z06 without diff chatter, and similarly used it in my 06 CTS-V that I recently sold without extra additive and again, no diff chatter. But, the C6 diff clutch plates, for whatever reason, behave differently.
Richor - thanks for the support. I appreciate it! Good talking with you yesterday.
