Default Brakes

Hello,

Anyone know how long the Front and Rear brake pads and rotors usually last on a 2007 C6? No hard driving just 20 mile commute to work. My 2007 has 32,000 on it currently. Brakes feel great but just wanted to be proactive.

Thanks,

I would change them now. Mine lasted 28k and one of my rear pads tapered badly and it was on the inside. I was very close to the metal.

Probably no more than 40K miles. It sounds like most of your driving is on a highway with few stops so they may last longer. You should check the pads though. They do taper and one end could be worn more than the other end. If they need to be replaced you can still use the rotors as long as they meet the minimum thickness requirements specified by GM. If you use OEM replacement pads and the rotors meet the thickness spec and do not have any grooves in them you will not have to do anything to them. Just slap in the new pads and go.

I would also bleed the brakes to get rid of the old brake fluid.

It all depends on how you drive. Brakes can last 70,000 miles and more. The rear brakes on my XJ8 have 70,000 miles on them and still look good. I changed the fronts at about 45,000. My C6 has 24,000 miles and they all still look like new.
