The US GPS Navigation unit comes with two DVD's, one for east and the other for western US. I would check the GM hotline, or a local dealer to see if there is a disk for your country.

Changing the NAV is going to be the least of your concerns. You can get the DVD software from Europe from GM or your local dealer.

Very good point. If you're going to mainland Europe (rather than the UK) then come resale time you'll find it much more difficult to sell a US car - most Europeans will only buy official Euro imports because of painful local regulations.

I did contacted GM and this is the response:

" Customer Relationship Specialist: Jason

Thank you for contacting the Chevrolet Customer Assistance Center. We appreciate you taking the time to write us regarding your interest in purchasing a Chevrolet Corvette and using the navigation system in Europe.

Since the navigation system will only work within the United States, we cannot recommend a device that will enable your navigation system to work in Europe. We still suggest that you contact the General Motors of Europe through their phone number at 01-48-63-16-50 or via email at opel.france@gm-customercare.com once you’ve made the purchase and the vehicle is already at Europe."

So i went to the next step, sending the same question to the e mail address provided by GM.

This is the response:

" Monsieur,

They are suggesting to send ANOTHER e mail to ANOTHER address... Until what time r we going to do this game?
It s GM for God's sake..nobody from GM can answer to a simple question HERE IN THE US?

Then i decided to come on the forum...

Thank u for your help guys

It is not my main concern....BUT ....if somehow the nav unit receiver is not compatible with European satellite system or something (like radar detectors for example) then i can buy a 1LZ car and save some money.
This is the only reason why i m asking

thx

Don't worry. You only have to buy the europe nav DVD and put it in your nav. That's all.
I am from europe and know a lot of people who bought a C6, Z06 or ZR1 in USA to import it to germany and they are very happy with the cars. I am one of them.

There are some other things you have to do (yellow flasher, etc) before you can get the motor vehicle registration certificate.

Nav is provided curtosy of US Army: GPS works every where worldwide ... you only need software that has local roads (the Euro DVD).

You get a garmin unit, it will work anywhere as long as you have the map. Even when you don't have the map, it will you co-ordinates.
