Default Hard decision -help!!

It's 2:49am and I'm wide awake!

My brain just won't shut down. I am trying to make a decision between two choices that I have, it's harder than I thought.

Heres the deal (guess I'm looking for advice and opinions). I have a 2008 Z51 Coupe, just recently had headers and Intake installed. Sounds great (cat-less) and picked up a little bit of hp with a so so tune (needs to be redone).

It's quick enough for what I use it for, just cruising around with the occasional light to light fun. You know how it is though, it's NEVER enough!

I have the option of going to ECS and having a cam package installed. Which will give me a lot more power. I will have a pretty fast Vette at that point, quick enough to bully pretty much anything I come across in my area - but that leaves me with just enough money for some repros and tires. Not much budget left for anything else - at that point I have a pretty quick car with no visual upgrades, which is the order I have usually chosen with the rest of my cars.

Option number 2 - I can be satisfied with my little bit of power and sound I picked up from my bolt-ons....and do a rear wide body kit, with Z06 size wheels with more rubber. I would also have a few dollars left to do a black out kit (tails/side markers ect.) - and tint my windows ( just kinda set the car apart from all the stock C6s in my area).

As you can see I'm torn - at this point any opinions or advice would help me out a ton. I'm just tired of thinking.....

My car on the outside:

My rear tire/wheel sporting a 305 Mickey Thompson drag radial:

Looks stock huh.........

My 800rwhp boosted motor with 959rwhp on tap with nitrous.under hood:

A little interior decorating:

Dont turn your car into a ghetto roller with plastic junk sticking to your tail lights. My car looks bone stock until I dish out beatings to all wheel drive sewing machine engine cars that think vettes cant move.

Forget the Z06 fender thing and send a set of stock looking fronts out to get widened to run 650rwhp from a boosted motor later on. Get the wheels and tires along with a 230XFI/230XFI 115LSA cam that will hit 490rwhp now and it will work great with the ECS 2200 blower later when you get the money. Once you go get real power with tires that dead hook, you will regret ever thinking about cosmetic mods. Z06 wheels at 19 inches dont get the traction of a mickey thompson tire.

Cam and 18x11 rims and tires now.

Read about it here:
http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c6-t...-solution.html

Save your money and definitely go to ECS.

Just the opinion I needed to here!

The front wheels I get widened - should they be stock c6 front offsets? Those will fit on the rear with no issues? Can I drop the car as well with no rubbing issues?

Oh - for the record I planned on getting the tails tinted, can't stand the stick on crap. I have a Machine Silver w/Comp Grey split spokes. I really like black c6 Z06 repros... hence tinting the tails and markers with the windows for contrast.

I put the link in with those questions answered.

You cant alter the hub of the wheel so you cant request different offsets which are fixed and determined then only by the width you get the fronts widened to.

Obviously since the 11" widened front wheels are on my car in all those pics, they fit.

Spin never ceases to amaze me. This is the first time seeing his car after reading several of his posts, and I am with him on this one. The car looks good as is stock - get the power and surprise other cars out there who dare to challenge you!

I am actually in the same dilemna as you. On one hand, I would like nice new wheels and think that the stock power is enough. On the other hand, I have contemplated dropping the car off at ECS for a cam package, and leaving the car stock looking.

In the end, I am waiting on both. I think I'll hold out and get the blower package from ECS, leave the car mostly stock looking.

Personally, I'd get the cam & then for very little money, paint your own calipers, get a set of painted door handles & painted ZO6 spoiler, and check around for some nice used wheels at your own convenience. These first 3 items would cost you, if you check on this forum, less than 300 bucks. Plus, later on, get yourself a set of wheels if you need to. You'll surprise a ton of folks who will only remember the white flash of lightning that blew them away!!

All info I needed to hear - I think I just needed the push. Doug at ECS is getting back to me today. Hopefully I will be down there next Monday!

Now I just have to find to OEM front wheels to match my stockers.... I believe they are around 300+ straight from GM - I have a close friend that was worked there for 20+ years, I'm sure he gets a pretty nice discount.

I think Spin mentioned that House of Wheels also carries slightly used OEMs?
