Can you install C6 longtubes with the car on jackstands or do you need a lift?

Thanks

i did it on home made 3in ramps, really not a hard install. just have to be able to twist and turn the pipes to get them in/ out.

It's really not a big job just time consuming. A couple years ago I installed a set of LG Streets on my 2000 C5. I sold the car & bought a C6. I installed a set of Kooks LT with cats on my 2006 in December using jackstands and floor jacks.

Of the two brands, the Kooks actually were an easier install.

Number one problem with home installs. Nobody pulls out the spark plugs One tap with the header and it's bye bye spark plug. It will cause a misfire and require replacement. We see about 10 out of 15 of these per year.

Why would anyone not pull the sparkplugs out when swapping headers?

Thanks for the tips.
I'm still deciding on what brand to use.
There was a supporting vendor selling the GHL street series for what seemed like a resaonable price. Anyone have any experience with these headers?

Kooks on jackstands here solo no problem...not sure why anyone wouldn't R&R spark plugs as it takes maybe 5 minutes per side at most to pull them.

I have no idea. Like I said we get about 10 cars a summer like this. Anybody from 16 year old kids, to 55 year old engineers have done it.

Why, I have no idea

I didn't and it runs great (put the headers on about 3 years ago and still runs great). Either I got lucky or I'm really good.

You may want to do the tunnel plate at the same time since you already have it apart.

Elite is having a sale on them.

Had my long tubes installed today. I considered doing it myself but changed my mind. It took the mechanic about 3 1/2 hours to do with a lift. I had him change the plugs while they were out too.

He drilled some holes in the tunnel plate for the O2 wire extenders and I put some tunnel plate insulation made by the maker of Dynamat on it.

Is it possible to do it on jack stands? Yes. Watching the install on the lift made me glad he did it for me. I wouldn't recommend it and I'm pretty handy. I changed out my brake calipers and brackets for powder coating but this was better left for a real mechanic.
