The manual transmission 2005 is the only U.S. spec C6 that has a column lock.
Some countries still require it, so some cars built to specs for foreign delivery still have it.

Column lock was completely removed in all US spec C6 vettes starting with MY2006. It was never really resolved with any of the C5 cars including the later ones.
let me tell you . it is definitely present on the 2005 manual tranmission cars.i can vouch for that. you can do a search but let me save you the trouble.
1.could be ur battery. Service Column Lock (SCL) can be triggered from a low battery charge
2. invest in a ctek 3300 (i have and love it) if your car sits for periods at a time
3. sometime you can jiggle your steering wheel and try to start your car . idk why that works but it does. there is a mechanism that is tripped when your car is initially started and if the mechanism fails it needs to be replace by the dealer or else you will throw thw SCL code.
HIGHLY frustrating to say the least. as of now im scared to turn my car off any time i go for a drive. Im replacing my battery tomorrow so if that fixes it ill make sure to repost
I have been getting the same message "Service Column Lock" on my 2005 C6 manual Trans. Car has less than 20K miles and battery was just replaced. I also use a battery tender to keep it charged. Is there any solution to bypass the column lock on the C6?
My "Service Column Lock" message has been on for about 30,000 miles now, so far it hasn't caused any problems, but the car also doesn't lock or unlock itself, nor does the seat memory work or telescoping sterring wheel...
If the car would start, I would not care. But no luck. I can temporarily clear the condition by disconnecting and reconnecting the battery (or pulling and replacing one of the 60amp fuses in the engine compartment). But this is a real pain. There is also a fuse in the passenger footwell for that is supposed to reset the SCL mechanism if pulled and replaced. Looking through the forum, I cannot find a bypass kit for the 2005 C6 either.
