I need some help from anyone that has pulled the shroud to install a cold air intake. I've got mine all loose but can't figure out how the bend it to clear the bottom tabs where it attaches to the bumper. Help, anyone?

You sure you got all the screws out???
If you do, you just have to pull, push, twist and muscle it out. Don't worry....it won't break. I've done it a couple of times and it is a pain!
There is a notch for the A/C hard line that it gets hung up on.
When you go put it back in, cut the bottom tabs back to just before the bolt hole. Its about a 2" x 1 inch cut out. This makes it a whole lot easier to reinstall.

LOL! Absolutely correct!! I pulled mine out so I could make nice clean cuts for the VaraRam install.....OMG, what a PITA! However, after all the struggles and arm scratches, I got it done, and it is well worth it....wait until you feel this thing cruising at 75 MPH and decide to tromp it to humiliate a Porsche......simply awesome! Good luck!
The main obstruction seems to be the inner panel that the sides of the shroud attach to which won't move far enough to let the shroud be squeezed together to clear the tabs. Did any of you remove that inner panel?

have not heard from my son yet on his memory of removing the shroud, but i know we did not remove the inner panel. also, because the replacement shroud it cut to fit the vararam, i found that it was easier to bend and manuever into position.
Correct.....leave in the inner panel. You have to be patient on this install....it's going to take a lot of push and pull. The main thing about the removal is that you will encounter hidden corners where you have to bend the shroud in order for it to clear....it won't break. This removal seemed simple at first until I got into the mix. Actually, I had to walk away and took a break.....PITB. Don't worry, you'll get there.
Just a new razor blade no more than 1/8" - 1/4" out, take your time, and cut it on the car. Easiest way is to pull the inside cut area away from the condensor as you go. Since it's at a slight angle, it's closer to the condensor at the top than the bottom so be extra careful there. But you'll be surprised when it's out, how far away it actually is from the condensor. This is how I did mine and I'd do it this way again.

If you do it this way, its a really good idea to put some cardboard or an old towel to protect the condenser. All it takes is one slip of the razor and you will put a hole in the condenser.

Did you cut the tabs on both ends up to the center hole? or what? you mentioned a 2x1 inch cutout, can you be more specific about location. I'm guessing that you mean from the front of the tab toward the back by 2"

Yes. When you try to reinstall it, you should realize right away that if the tabs on the bottom are much smaller, it would be easier to install.
Here is a link to a post I did that gives some info on how to deal with those pesky tabs. Botton line you just need to use some muscle to bend the tabs.
I muscled the tabs out. I reached my hand down behind it after taking all the hardware out I pushed in the middle to bow the tabs out and then gave it a good yank. Then I threw it across the garage to make myself feel better and look tough.

It is, however, I was schooled by Patrick at VR who basicly walked me through the process. By pulling the part of the shroud away as you cut with the "new", sharp blade, you're decreasing the chances of cutting into the condensor. Also, the most important factor is not having the blade out more than the very minimum. This is where most, who accidentally cut their condensor, make the mistake. For me, it was easy after learning the method.
Hey guys: thanks to all for your tips, especially the links to past posts that have pictures about modifying the front corners for easier install. After yanking, twisting, bending and yelling I finally pulled the thing hard enough to clear those bottom tabs and get it out. I will modify those front corners and hope for a good reinstall.
It went back in with a minmum of effort after cutting the front edge of the tabs by about 2 inches. A little twisting etc., but a piece of cake compared with getting it out. Again, thanks to everyone who answered my post
