Default patriot golds or comp 921 valve springs..

Hey guys, i'm trying to decide if it's really worth spending the extra 250$ for the comp 921 valve springs.or just go with the patriot performance gold..I don't mind spending the extra $$ if comp is the better spring..But if i can save a few hundred bucks, why not..If anyone can give their opinion or real world experience on the two springs, please do..O and i will be running spins 230/234 612.598 cam..

Thanks..Jonathan..

Ive heard the patriots work just as well as the comp. Just make sure you get the dual's.

I feel like they are just as good, i see alot of people running the patriots, and no matter which you choose, you still have to change em out around 20k miles from what i hear..I hope to get alot of opinions..Thanks..

The PATRIOT GOLD Springs are just fine. I would take the extra $250.00
and put it towards a set of Yella terra Rockers or a set of hardened push rods.

I have Patriot Extreme Golds and I replaced them at 22k miles...I have a high lift cam and daily drive my car.

The springs were fine when I replaced them, no valve float and I go to 7k a lot.

BUT....one of my keepers had cracked in two. So I was close to dropping a valve.

So moral of my story is, Extreme Golds are great, but you should replace every 20k if you've got a high lift cam.

What constitutes a high lift cam?

Other than price, what is the difference between the Patriot Gold and 921's. Does the additional $250 for the 921's buy you anything?

A product that has been very strong, long lasting and from a good valvetrain company that has the equipment for designing, testing, building and selling top of the line valvetrain.

Thats not high lift....my current cam is .678/.688 but I run Ferra springs with it.

If you think $500 for springs is bad....

I ran the patriot Golds on my other motor/cam ( .650 lift) and they worked great. I know Richard at WCCH specs them on many of the heads he does.

I will most likely run them on the wifres LS3 too.

Just make sure you get the "Patriot Extreme" spring set (https://www.patriot-performance.com/...&cat=51&page=1). It is more aggressive than the regular "Gold" series and is what would be recommended for the cam you are using.

I just got my LS3 running today after doing my cam swap. Went with a custom XFI grind from Charlie @ RPM Motors , Patriot Extremes, C5R chain and hardened pushrods (7.425") from Texas Speed. I am surprised how quiet the valvetrain is with the double springs and ~.600" lift.

When comparing the Patriot Gold Xtreme Kit to the 921 Kit, does the additional $300 plus for the 921's buy you anything? Are the 921's of higher quality? Will they last longer? I am just trying to determine if I should pay extra for the 921's or if the Patriot Gold Xtreme will provide the same quality, performance and life at a lower cost. I will probably go with a 224 XFI/224 XFI 115+2 CAM. I know LG includes the 921's with their CAM kits and many on this Forum go with the 921's. If there is no quantifiable difference or data to support one product over the other, I will save myself some money by going with the Patriot Gold Xtreme's. However, if there is a real and quantifiable difference or advantage in going with the 921's, I will spend the extra cash.
