Steps taken from manual.

Remove the coolant pressure cap.
Slowly fill the surge tank with a 50/50 Dex-Cool/water coolant mixture until the coolant level reaches the base of the surge tank fill neck.
Start the engine and allow to the engine to idle.
Allow the engine to idle for approximately 4 minutes.

Slowly fill the coolant mixture until the level stabilizes at the base of the surge tank fill neck.
Run the engine between 2,000-2,500 RPM for approximately 2 minutes.
Allow engine to idle and add approximately 1 liter (1.1 quarts) of coolant to the surge tank.
Install the coolant pressure cap.
Shut the engine OFF.
Allow the engine to cool.
Top off the coolant as necessary.
Inspect the cooling system for leaks.

The engine has to be running to get to operating temperature for the thermostat to open and allow coolant from the radiator to circulate.
In the manual the instructions say to remove the coolant radiator cap and fill from the surge tank.
Watch the surge tank, the coolant level will decrease as soon as engine is started.

You're welcome.

If you are going for a DIY project...this will be messy.
1 - Remove thermostat and upper lower rad hoses and power flush with special nozzel, air compressor assist and garden hose.
2 - Drain at radiator...multiple times...heating the engine each time so the thero opens.
3 - Just drain rad and refill.
(In addition, without looking this up, there may be (may be) pain plugs toward the read of the engine block that can be opened to let some more coolant out of the block if doing a gravity drain)
4 - You may also wish to remove and rinse out the coolant over flow/ reserve tank

One should use distilled water only, yet most do not.
Also Dex Cool is not inexpensive.

With Dex cool a power flush is really recommended and a shop with a machine to do this and recycles (if you care - my carbon foot print is a size 13) makes little mess and costs...at least in S Francisco Bay area less than $200. Dex Cool leave a gummy residue after 3,4,5 years of use.

Just draining the rad, I am not sure how much remains in the block.

I have done this before and it is a messy driveway project.

block needs to be drained to get all the dexcool out. the driver's side block drain is just ahead of the engine mount. it is a very large plug, because this is also where they install a block heater option. the passinger side is a pain. you must remove the starter to get to it. it is a small plug, easy to access when the starter is removed.........
