Default Help with Power Driver Seat

Im hoping somebody can make sense of this for me. I had another c6 that didnt do this and cant figure out why this one is different. I have a used z51 and it has the 2 driver seat preferences. I have set driver 1 to my options no problem. The issue occurs when I get out of the car and close and lock the door, when I go to open it back up the seat automatically moves forward for no reason and I have to press the "1" button for it to go back to my preferences. Anybody know why It would do this?....and no I dont have an owners manual.

First thing is - you DO have an Owner's Manual!!!

Here's a link:

http://www.c6registry.com/Technical/manuals/2005OM.pdf

I went to the FAQs in the "stickies" at the top of the General section of the forum. The link there doesn't work, but it does show you that you need to go to the C6registry.com site and you can click on the "Technical" tab to find all kinds of good info online.

Second thing - I looked in your profile to see what transmission you have, but it's not listed. The seat memory works a little differently for the manual/automatic transmissions.

My first thought is that you say you have set driver# 1 options, but perhaps you're using Fob# 2. If driver# 2 settings are for the seat to be in a more forward position, it might be going there because it detects Fob# 2 and thinks you want driver# 2 settings. I'd just put the driver# 2 settings to the same as driver# 1 (unless you regularly have another driver using the car).

My second thought is that you may not have set up a memory "exit" position. The car could be going to a memorized exit position, which has the seat going forward. Just set your exit position like you want it for getting in/out of the car.

Take a look at the online Owner's Manual for your model year and you'll probably be able to figure it out.

Good luck!

you were dead on! I only got 1 FOB with the car and sure enough, its FOB 2. I'll set both 1 and 2 to the same settings and that will surely fix the problem. I already have the exit setting customized. I really appreciate it.

Glad we got your issue figured out - that's the real value of this forum!!!

I got my 2006 Z06 used and it only had 1 fob - but I got another one off eBay for about $40. I just looked (I did a search for "C6 fob") and several popped up from $72 to $90 for the old ones - but some were listed with "or best offer" and maybe you could low-ball one. Keep an eye on the site and maybe a fob will pop up for auction at a good price.

I would recommend you get a second fob just in case.

BTW, I STRONGLY recommend that you check your key in the key lock above the license plate. With only one fob, if the fob battery dies, you lose the fob, or the fob gets inadvertently locked in the car (yes, it can happen!) you'll be SOL if your key doesn't work.

It's not uncommon for the key to not work due to the key lock cylinder being very stiff from never being exercised, or sometimes the cable from the key lock to the latch becomes disconnected. Without a second fob, or if the car battery dies, you'll need the key to gain access to the car to either put your fob in the glove box receptacle or to be able to open the hood to charge your battery.
