Well, prior to decidng on the STS system, I spent a lot of time in research. Here at the CF and elsewhere.
I have a C6/2007/LS2/MZ6.
I talked with owners of the system plus I talked with owners of OTHER systems.
On top of that, I talked with tuners around the country who were mostly "against" the STS set up. I might add that the tuners I talked to that didn't like the STS sytem also didn't install the system. Salesmanship at it's best.
Here are the facts over the past 13 months:
- 11.125 qtr mile at 3,000 ft, 70 degrees (I'm no racer.. pretty sure anyone could top this that knew what they were doing)
- Car operates at 210f on hot days during Aug
- I had one code thrown for a misfire.
- I've had one oil pump (rear mount for turbos) issue that had to be replaced
- I had an oil pump "noise" issue (it was LOUD) that actually went away as I was told it would once it was broke in
- I'm getting 572rwhp
- I have a few oil "drips" now and then. Nothing consistant. Just a drop or two here and there at the rear of the car. It's coming from the driver's side turbo.
That's about it for highs and lows.
The STS system gets a bad rap for the most part. There's a lot more negative regarding boost and lag and so forth on the internet.
I've not driven another TT set up other than my own. However, I simply cannot imagine having any more power than I've got wtih the STS.
If other systems are better than the STS, I wouldn't know. I've not driven them. Keep this in mind though... a stock Viper N/A 600hp coupe couldnt hang with me at 200 yards. I am happy with the performance of the system. The downside would seem to be issues with the rear mounted oil pumps that feed and lubricate the turbos.
thats a slick set-up got any pics? no issues with pressure leaks with all the clamps/tubing or heat in the back of the car?
No issues that I'm aware of. Only issue I believe with this system are the remote mount oil pumps that lubricate the rear mount turbos. I think this could be the only weakness to the system.
if there were any leakage/boost issues you would be well aware of it. i've read about others having oil issues you would think they would have that solved. two more things what was the price in round numbers for the kit and install and is it EPA certified. your car is one some only dream about. thanks

my DD is a turbo'd Subau, turbos work.
I purchased the system AT the 2008 SEMA show for $6,000. I know it usually sells for a lot more.
My mechanic and I installed it over a weekend and tuned it over the course of 3 days (tune was longer than install).
All in I spent around $7500 for the TT set up. That does not include the wide body, wheels, etc... Just the TT.
No EPA issues in MT so I can't answer that question. From what I'm told, since it's a catback system, it meets 50-state regs... however, I cannot verify that myself.
i will get in touch with STS for more details but the tune thing has me curious the website shows a Predator handheld which makes me think the tune is "canned" and done for you or am i wrong? thanks i'll try not to bother you anymore.

heh... the "canned" tune set the standard. From there we plugged in a laptop, drove for 20 hours over a few days and fine tuned it. My mechanic is a Turbo God. He knows his s#!t. He didn't like the emailed tune "as is" so he spent a large amount of time "fixing" it.
Truth be told, I was with him the entire time. I couldn't tell the difference between when we uploaded the sent tune to the "fine tune" done by the mechanice... however, I'm no expert.
I know the kit came with 60lb fuel injectors but other than that, I reallyh don't know what came with it. I was in and out during installation. I can find out more if need be.
If memory serves, I was around 125 but I have to look when I get home. I saved all sheets but I'm on the road in a hotel right now.

so he used the canned tune in the Predator handheld that came with the kit then data logged it over time and tweaked it. sounds like a good plan.
I keep forgetting: The predator tuner that comes with the kit is expensive, however, I had already purchase one, so I didn't need to add one to the "kit". That saved me money on the price.
Nice pic's Raazor, especially under the hood. Very similiar to my set up, different TT system & trans but other than that same LS2 & widebody & similiar rwhp.
Thanks for sharing
I don't really know why the STS system gets a bad rep. They're actually a really good system...I know, I've driven one. And '08 LS3, just like mine but a MN6.
That thing was a monster!
I'd have gone STS, but the cost was a big factor. I'm glad to hear of it lasting over some time.
How many actual miles would you say you have w/ the STS?
There's a late model GTO cruising around here with an STS system too. I'm dying to see how the ECS system stacks up if I can ever find him again. :P
It's not a daily driver so there are not a ton of miles on the system. I think around 2500. I didn't drive it for 100 days straight due to snow. However, when it's nice out, I typically drive it every single day even if it's only for a short run.
I love the sound. People seem in awe of the sound also. Power is great but you DO need to play with the clutch/throttle at low rpm to get it into boost to launch. I find that 4,000 rpm makes for the best launch with the massive Nitto Invo 345's on the rear.
There are a few oil drips every now and then. I'm talking about a drop. Not too sure where it comes from. Either a connection to the oil pump or maybe to the turbo?
The failed oil pump was annoying but they sent me another one no charge and it was easy enough to swap out.
Overall, I'm still very pleased with the system. I'll update if there are any issues or future 1/4 mile runs that exceed my previous times.
