Default Me Vs. 2007ish Roush (closed course)

Last night as I was driving around I came up behind a 2007ish Roush Mustang. I have no idea what stage it was but it had the name ROUSH in big letters below the license plate, and in front it had what looked like 4 big round head lights.

We went from a roll at about 55 mph. I was in 5th gear and I put my A6 into 2nd gear. He hit the horn 3 times and we were off. I was very surprised that it wasn’t even close. I pulled about 5 car lengths by 4th gear. I thought maybe he missed a gear or something.

So we do it again this time at a roll from about 60 mph. Since it was a little faster I downshifted only to 3rd gear, instead of 2nd. Big mistake because by the time that I hit the horn 3 times, he got the jump on me. My Vette didn’t exactly bog down, but compared to taking off in second gear like last time, it felt like it bogged down, even though it didn’t. It just took me an extra second or two to get in the sweet spot rpms. Anyways he jumped me, but only pulled ahead by about half a car length. But I caught up very quickly and by the time I went into 4th gear he had given up long ago.

I was surprised that my car did as well as it did. I figured with a special edition like Roush, Shelby, or Saleen it would be a close race if I didnt get trounced. Not to blow our (C6 owners) own horn, but with simple mods on the c6, are all newer special edition mustangs that easy to beat?

Man, I can’t imagine what it would have been like if I we would have gone from a stop. My Toyos would have hooked up and I think it would have been a lot worse for him than it was. I also can’t imagine what it would have been like if I had the Trickflow heads on, that I want to get. I’m at about 435 rwhp now. With the trick flows….480-500 rwhp? That would have been a sad day for the Roush. I’m sure he thinks I had NOS though.

the roush stage 1 is only a body kit (no blower).

i think with a blower it only makes like 450 or 500 hp. a stock C6 with the LS3 should still take it

Mustangs overall are a joke. It takes about an 80k mustang to beat your vette and then they cant hang with the car in their price class which is the Z06. If your heads and cam you can pretty much beat every mustang ever produced and even beat most modified ones. Ive surprised a few 500rwhp+ mustang owners on the track when I blow their doors off coming out of the hole and run .3 tenths faster in the quarter with over 100 less rwhp.

You're just driving around on a private property closed course and came up behind a Mustang?
