My 08 had to get the transmission rebuilt (MN6), looks like they didn't quite get the mufflers perfectly aligned. I'll be putting it up on a lift to change the oil tonight, what's the proper procedure to get them realigned? It also looks like they might be leaking at the connection to the X-pipe, saw some black there when I peeked underneath to assess the misalignment.
You gotta loosen them up from the x pipe and the back of the mufflers and adjust the over axle pipes to get them straightened out. It can take hours to get it perfect. Ive done mine a couple of times and getting it perfect is a real pain.

It's a hard job. I put on NPP mufflers on my 06 and I struggled to get them aligned and finally quit. Then I looked at a brand new 09 in the parking lot at work and they were not even close to being aligned. I decided I could live with it. It's really one of those things that only the owner of the car will notice.
I used a 24" square blade to lay on the tips. Then rotated the mufflers until all four tips made contact with the blade and then tightened the pipe clamps. It took about 5 minutes. After a couple of days driving, I checked and it moved a little, but still good enough for me.

I tried something like that but then the over axle pipes were hitting the top heat shield.
Got them aligned but notice some black soot at the middle of the X-pipe where it's welded and also around where the clamps are where the mufflers insert, the clamps are tightened all the way but I suspect there's still a tiny leak happening in these locations... any ideas? back to dealer for new clamps/xpipe?

I havent seen one with out this yet. Maybe Im just looking at the wrong cars. With these clamp together systems its impossible to get it 100%. If you cant hear it ticking its probably not a big deal.

oh, I didn't really look at the joints until they had taken it apart for the first time... if it's "normal" I won't pursue it.
However, I do have some wind noise 70+mph in the driver window near the halo after the A-pillar trim piece was replaced... this just a window adjustment issue?
Thanks for the posts. Now I feel a lot better that I have been battling with my exhaust for a while now trying to keep the passenger over-the-axle pipe from banging up against the frame or differential brace.
Most vette and even other dual exhaust sports car have poor tip alignment. Gets even worse after cat back installation.
For example my Corsa's right side dual tips are welded off angle. Not much but enough to show to the serious onlooker. Something like this can not be corrected casually. Also I noticed a lot of uneven length tips........after replacement. Hell even right from the factory it can be poor, usually is.
