Looking for a stiffer more stable ride on my base c6 vert.
I have a set of z51 sway bars i'm going to install on my car. I'd also like to change out my shocks as well.
Would z06 shocks be a good swap, or would just z51 shocks be good for a base c6?
I'm not looking to spend a lot thats why i'm not going towards the bilsten sport shocks.
Im installing Bilstein HDs and the Z51 bars/Pfadt poly bushings tomorrow.
The HDs you can find new for $3-400 shipped. They are made specifically for the base suspension. After a bit of research I chose this setup for DD, no tracking.
Read this thread and youll learn alot. http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c6-c...ade-wahoo.html

I am doing the same thing as jpauli28 and have the rear end work completed. Front Z51 sway bars and Bilstein HD shocks on order. Corvette Central and Ecklers have the shocks but Corvette Central has the sway bars, bushings and endlinks.
I am looking to do some mild autocross and want the stiffer suspension.
Other folks on the forum who have done this change out do not see any serious degradation of the ride when cruising or around town. I see a difference when I go across the overpass bridges on the interstates.
Just me.

Gene at GM Parts House has the bars and poly bushings as a package www.allshocks.com has the Bilsteins HD's for the best price i found.
Thanks for the connection but I went with Corvette Central and got my front ones for $80.00 ea with no shipping charge and tax. The price and service is all good.
In the future I will give them a try.
Thanks for your help and good luck with your mod.
My front shocks and sway bars along with the end links and bushings should be here by this Saturday. Hopefully I can have them installed by Sunday.
Mike, let me know what you think...
I installed the HD's and Z51 sway bars today and I gotta say...
Ummm I dont see a $500 worth of improvement over the base suspension , is it me?
I drove several miles over not so perfect roads and it felt the same (blame on the GY runflats?) I will say though it didnt want to slide out in a hard turn but you have to push it to notice the "upgrade".

Further eval pending...
It's definitely you. :o
Base C6 susp is junk for someone who really pushes the car and drives it to the limit. I went to C6Z shocks and sways and felt a huge difference. I just recently went to Pfadt inverted and WOW HUGE difference. My test track is not neighborhood roads though. I hit the hundreds of twisty roads in North GA.
Get the car deep into some turns or S's to see what it's really made of.

Maybe I was expecting too much too often. I agree with you, I will have to "push it" in order to see/feel my investment, but for a DD I was hoping for a more friendlier ride.
And too be fair, the post was on my first impression. Well at least its there for when I need it
