That's what I have but it's probably not the best built.
That may or may not be the case but he only asked about power gains. While none of them actually show very much on a dyno I think we can ALL agree that the Vararam does still deliver the most power (and track performance) gains among the available CAIs on the market.
Loaded question. You'll get a wide variety of answers.
Vararam gets poor reviews for build quality from even the most vocal advocates.
I'd talk to your tuner and go from there. Mine likes the Vararam and the Callaway. I chose the Callaway due to the poor reviews I've seen for the Vararam.
Best intake, hands down. The early units had a warping issue that was fixed years ago. Seals need to be glued.
Did the early units need the seals glued or is that needed on the new model? I considered one for my C6 in 2006, but after reading about the quality issues I went with the Lingenfelter. Beautiful unit. On my Z06 I am using the Halltech Killerbee it is also a nice looking well built product. I know the vararam website claims .3 secs in the quarter who knows, there are guys running stock Z's sub 11 go figure.

All the seals have to be glued. The stickum on the back does not hold it in place. The 0.3 is accurate, I can testify to it from personal experience on my C6. My Z still has the stock intake.
i just checked there website & they say it take 3.5 tents off the 1/4!
thats a ton!.
Why did you almost lose you engine? water got in?
Because of this..
And no this is not my car but if you get a VR make sure you glue the seal in and check it often..
I had a VR (the so called new and improved version, which still warped but that had nothing to do with the real issue). My upper seal starting moving out of place after a few months. I didn't trust it after that so I got rid of it. I actually liked the way it looked and the principal behind it but quite honestly I didn't "feel" a difference. Some on here will blindly defend VR and also claim it must not have been "properly installed". Uh... it's a foam seal with adheasive on it. I'm sure a few may have never had a problem with their unit but many others have.
I'm not trying to start a battle but just know what you're getting before you pay a decent chunk of money for it.

Thanks.
Stick with the stock one as it works just fine.
I've gotten my car into the 9's with it (it's a 2007 A6 with an LS7 transplant) along with a stock intake manifold and stock injectors. I tried a Vortech Rammer a while back and picked up a pathetic .04 seconds at the track which is pretty much a non-existent gain.
I wish Vararam would make a metal brace to surround the outside of the upper mold to keep it in shape, then have a better quality gasket made with **** on one side to fit through locating holes in the upper molding....
And, I have two Vararams now, one on the wife's 05 and one on my 08 Z.....
I also had problems with a Vararam. Not only do the seals come unglued, but the thin plastic housing spreads allowing unfiltered air/debris to enter the engine. The housing is very thin with no reinforcement ribs and the gaskets will not stay glued when exposed to under hood temperatures. I did see one forum member use screws to secure the housing to the filter.
It is a great idea and will increase power if the car is moving. It is a pain to install and either requires cutting the radiator shroud, or replacing it with a pre-cut shroud (this is a real pain).
My opinion: The entire Vararam system (second design) needs a major redesign to reinforce the housing and properly engineer new gasket seals.
I would advise looking into the new Halltech or the LG intake. Both are available in carbon fiber and appear to be superior engineering. They are both going to be very expensive and the new LG unit will require major labor to install.
