I've read a few threads on exhaust and wanted some opinions. What is a good sounding muffler system (Just mufflers, I don't feel a whole exhaust system is worth the money) that isn't too loud, looks good, and doesn't have a lot of drone? Some drone is okay, but I don't want loud drone. I don't care if the mufflers are loud at WOT but don't want it to be loud all the time, but still noticeable on start up/cruising speeds. The popping on deceleration isn't a problem, I actually prefer some. It sounds like Corsa is the way to go, but what about B&B?
Also, would I need anything other than the mufflers to work on the OE system?
Hit the search function for many recomendations. You'll find that just about every guy has his own personal like and dislike. Pick only the one you heard in person that you like. That's how I settled on my B&B fusion exhaust (bi-mod)
I went from stock to corsa sports and they were ok the only thing I did not like about them was they are to quiet at highway speed no drone means no sound, I now have the NPP's with the M2W so I can have them open and enjoy the sound when ever I want. I fill like the NPP's are best if some times you want big sound and some times you don't.
There are some good pieces of advice here. However, I don't agree that no drone means no sound at highway speeds. Mine came with NPP. I added something to just barely keep the valves open at all times. It provides some sound at all speeds and rpms, but no drone. From what I understand, some people hear drone with the NPP wide open (Mild to Wild set in the wild) at highway speeds, i.e., 1500-1700 rpm. I don't have that issue.
The advice re reading up but buying the ones you've heard in person is a very good suggestion (and not just at idle).

I think you are talking about the little shaft collers to keep the flaps from closing all the way, I picked up some at Grainger today but haven't put them on yet. When I said no drone means no sound I was talking about the Corsa Sports not the NPP.
Hmmm, so if I don't currently have the NPP can I have the option with B&B where it can be open and closed?
Yes, our Fusion "retro" kit includes our bi-modal exhaust system and the control assembly to convert any C6 without the NPP option over to the bi-modal design.
The Bassani system is awesome. I have the Dominator GT Race system and love it. Quality and fit is second to none. It incorporates their famous "power x" in the tunnel and is available with two different 4" tip options. I'll post some pics of the actual sysem later cause photobucket is blocked here at work so i can't access it.
I like the stock NPP exhaust. I'd love a set of Fusions, but they're just too pricey to me.
With the exhaust switch I fabbed up, it's almost as quiet as stock for long trips and a screaming banshee any other time I want.
And I know you're looking at superchargers too.... I just dyno'd my LS3 last weekend to see the differences with the NPP open and closed on a FI LS3. Open, it gained a solid 20rwhp under 3500 rpm. I'm sure the Fusions would do a little more, but for the $$$, not much.
It's against my principals to pay big money for a simple exhaust. Do a search on"Muffler Mods".
The base C6 sounds like an old lady's Buick. Take a 3/4" hole saw, drill all the way through the outgoing pipe about 1.5" forward of the back face plate. Cover or weld over the initial hole on the outside of the muffler, do the other one and the job's done.
Sounds much, much better. Tiny bit of drone at 1,500 rpm with slight pressure on the gas. I love it, and if you don't, then you can always upgrade.
Go to a club or weekend run to hear the different exhaust systems. Each has it's own style.
That's why i like the Bassani system.....you get the full system from the cats back with an x-pipe and for less money than most that give you over-axles only.

Yes, I am talking about the little "collars" and they do work well! And I now understand that you meant the "no drone, no sound" was for the Corsa Sports.
Don't listen to Mark from BB, take it from someone who bought the BB fusion system from a local guy and is independent of BB.................they are freaking AWESOME!
