Default overheating problems...

I have a LS2 with a Airaid CAI and a Predator... well a few days ago the low coolant light turned on but it would come right back off... then yesterday i get to work and the temp gage is reading over 220* so on lunch i go buy coolant and fill it up. then I get home from work and there was steam coming from like the radiator! I pop the hood and there was alot of pressure build up from the hose at the top and it seemed that it was leaking from there, so I push it back it and I open the coolant resevoir cap and let the car run to make sure all the coolant actually traveled through the thermestat. I put the factory tune to make sure the fan was coming on and it was coming on, but very low... and with the a/c on. but parked the car didnt get over 212*.
My question is have any of you guys had your thermastat get stuck? could that had been the problem? cause it seemed like alot of pressure build up on the hose. Or is there something I should check to make sure that everything is ok?

Is it the stock OEM stat or did you change it to a lower one? Very possibly could have been an air bubble from the low fluid or you picked up debris like a plastic bag, etc. If the stat was bad, it wouldn't start working again.

it's the original one... I was thinking that it is an air bubble as I drove 30miles home and today drove 30miles back to work. If it would have been the thermostat then I would had over heated by now right? I know that on my old cobra I was suppose to burb the cooling system... And I sure didn't do that till last night and today all seems normal... It went up to 201* while getting to work but that's not bad.

ok, made it home from work and it was fine till I parked it at home then it started to steam up (coolant leaking from the resevoir) and i let it cool down... then drove it to Whataburger (less than a mile away) and temps went as high as 230*!!! I noticed that the 2.5" hose coming from the thermostat housing to the radiator ( I assume) was with basically NO pressure but all the other ones where! Maybe a bad Thermostat?! Should I buy a lower degree thermostat? maybe 160* and install it? I saw the fan kick into HIGH speed while over 220*'s so I know the fan is working... any other ideas?

I just took the thermostat off and tested it on a pan with water... seemed to work! took forever to open... Water was super boiling point but it worked. Still I am going to put the new factory one on... I guess I will be removing the factory radiator and cleaning it out as well...
